I'm surprised with all these openings nobody has been hired yet? Seems like it you fine a good fit you grab him.
If you keep waiting for someone better sooner or later one you like may get hired by another team.
Funny how they all interview the same 4/5 guys.

I think that the Browns are going to hire a coach quickly, i.e. Mangini. They seem to be ready to get things going quickly - they are not hesitating to get that coaching spot filled it seems.

Agree with the team and the coach.

The process moves slowly because a potential candidate on

a team that is still in the playoffs cannot be hired until that

team finishes the season. Candidates on the teams that are in

Superbowl can't be hired until the Superbowl is over.

Having said this, I think Mangini will be the first coach signed

by the Browns.

And typically you raid playoff teams not teams that are sitting home. (Patriots are an exception.)

I would say that because of their market and the size which also increases a demand from the public quickly, I would say the Jets are first in line.

Plus isn't Shanahan still on vaca? He put off the Jests and Cleveland(all other interviews too) until he returns. I bet a few teams would hold off on their final decision a couple of weeks until he's available.

I bet the Steelers and Ravens are licking their chops at the thought of facing a Mangini run team... Its too bad that we'll have to wait until 2010 to see him if he coaches the Browns.

Does the 49ers deciding to make interim head coach a full time head coach count. They were kind of following your logic, if you have a guy who you feel is good grab him up and don't waste/risk anything. The 49ers easily could have tried to get in the hunt for guys like Cohwer but knew what they had.
