96: Brett Favre and Desmond Howard lead the pack past the Pats in sb 31
02: Favre and the pack decide it's better to get the 4th seed and limp into the playoffs than to take the 3rd seed and go into the playoffs on a positive note losing to the jets, sending the Pats home after an ot thrilling win over miami
08: Favre and the jets decide they'd rather see the fish in the playoffs than the Pats

What I would like to know is, why didn't the jets put Clemens in? Favre obviously did not give them the best chance to win this game (probably not the last few either). I mean if the guy is banged up and can't do what he likes to do, why keep him in? Some mangenius. Favre looked lost all night. He couldn't hit an open wr at all in the first half. Those two short picks reminded me of that int that Drew threw against the steelers in the 97 season. Next to last game of the yr, lost the game, ended up having to go to pitt for the second rd, lost 7-6, well you remember.

But seriously, the fish didn't beat the jets, favre beat the jets, and in the process of doing so officially ended our season.

What makes this so hard to swallow is the fact that the playoffs were so wide open this year, especially if Big Ben is out in the divisional round.

Note to Brett make sure that you have nothing to do with the Pats six years from now PLEASE!

Re: The man who single-handedly ended our yr ever 6 seasons

When I was discussing this phenomenon with my pops and my buddy Mike, Mike says "huh, 6-6-6, kinda like the devil"

I always HATED favre, ever since sb 31. I was only 12 at the time, and it was seriously one of my worst childhood memories. I still have the image of favre running down the field with his helmet raised above his head, and his damned braces shining after that long td to rison. I never bought into the whole "he plays the way a fan would play" bs. When he helped end our season in 02 I hated him even more. Than, over time I kinda learned to just let bygons be bygons (sp?) and respect a guy in a sport I loved so dearly that would make the hall as a first ballot. I especially grew to like him last year when his favorite target became the player I liked more than any non-Patriot (other than Willie of course) in Greg Jennings. Then, he went to the jets and I was like "sweet I can hate him again". And, boy do I hate him again now!!!

If that washed up redneck POS starts with his attention whore crocodile tears at his farewell press conference number 6 I hope someone throws a shoe at the azzhole!

Re: The man who single-handedly ended our yr ever 6 seasons

Do any of us really think that Clemens would have produced better results than Favre in this game? Really?

I would LOVE that!

The question is, could he have done any worse?

John Madden and all those boneheads can take a gunslinger, I'll take the guy with a brain any day of the week.

Yes unless Clemems is color blind like Favre and can't tell the opposing players from his own.

So you think that a career back-up who was given every chance under the sun to start last season yet could not and who has not played a down this season who come in, in crunch time, against a good Dolphins defense and have led the Jets to a TD to win the game? Come on now, dude. Put down the pipe. If Clemens comes in, you're looking at AT LEAST one more INT.

You would have been suprised at just how color blind Clemens really is. Tell me, were you in favor of benching Cassel to start O'Connell early on in the season? And that's a serious question... not an attempt at a slam.

Who knows, but at half time, I kept saying to pull Favre, or we're screwed. Maybe Clemons is THAT bad. Next year should be interesting .lol.

No I had a good feeling about Cassel from the start, read my signature.

Favre sucks, I'd take almost any QB over that friggin hack. If Richard Todd were in the stadium and could still fit in his uniform I would have rather seen him.

Favre does suck. I'm not denying that. But if you think putting Kellen Clemens in there would have gotten the Jets a W and put us into the playoffs well you're just mistaken, pure and simple. That, and you just haven't seen enough of Clemens.

Hahah, not to be a jerk but both of your "predictions" in your signature were wrong unfortunately, and your reasoning was poor as well. The Offense carried this team this year not the "solid" defense you mentioned in your accurate prediction.

Maybe that guy in Iraq.
He had a good aim.

Re: The man who single-handedly ended our yr ever 6 seasons

Cute, especially the 666 part, but Favre didn't end our season the first time. It was Desmond Howard. Favre gets the media credit but take Desmond Howard off the Packers and we win that game.

Actually, I always blamed Reggie White,,,,,,or Max Lane

Agreed. Howard and White were the two biggest reasons we lost that game. But, Favre was still there, along for the ride.

Funny how everyone thinks he's one of the best ever, and he only won one sb, in which his special teams teammate was mvp.

Not to be a jerk but can you read? I never said the defense would carry the team, I said they would be solid. Last time I checked being 8th in the league in points allowed is pretty friggin solid.

Sorry for not being Edgar Cayce.

I remember something about The Statue throwing four (4) INTs in that game. Mighta had something to do with us losing.

That and the Coach's mind being elsewhere on his new job as HC of the NYJ.
