It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Only two of those were stompings; two of them were close games that the Pats would normally win (and, if AD had been healthy, they would have won the JEST game, IMO), and very well could have won.
I agree, two were winnable, but they lost. A remarkable team stops 3rd & 15. A remarkable team doesn't let Manning drive the length of the field when he needs a TD.
Unfortunately, there is no column 'Almost.'
So I guess we haven't had a remarkable team for several years now.
Not sure what that is supposed to mean. Clearly the 2007 team was remarkable, despite losing the Super Bowl. But the 2005 and 2006 teams were not; however, 2003 & 2004 were. Pretty easy to spot the trend ...
2007 - Almost Perfect
2008 - Survival
2009 - The Revenge Tour
That sounds like a really good book and/or cast away type of movie.
EDIT: Now that I think about it, that sounds like The Punisher. And, uh, that movie sucked (except for the fight v.s. "the Russian").
With 4 games to go, I'm going on record saying that 10-6 will be a remarkable season for the Patriots. 11-5 will be amazing.
I can't think of another team in the NFL who could take the injury hits that the Patriots have on both sides of the ball, to key players, and finish above .500. This is not excuse making, it's just stating the facts.
Sure the front office could have done a better job in replacing the CB's that we lost. But even if they had, I don't think we would finish any better record wise.
QB is the most important position on the team and although Cassel has done better that most of us could have hoped for, he's still no Tom Brady. The loss of Rodney really hurt. AD does way more than most fans realize and I think he would have been the difference in the Jets OT loss.
So yes, I get angry and sad over some of these losses. But if this team finishes 10-6 or better, they will have achieved a remarkable season. Just one Homers view.
....
It's almost like seeing a preview of what we hope is still 7-8 seasons away... the great looming question of what happens when Tom Brady rides off into the sunset. Answer: the team rolls on.

I never said that this would be a "remarkable team", those were your words.
My point is that if the team goes 10-6 or 11-5, it would be a remarkable season and accomplishment considering the injury losses and the parity of the NFL.
I agree 100% with this post. step back for a second. make the playoffs or not it would be a miracle for them to be 10-6 considering they set the NFL record for starter games lost to injury this year.
Yes they lost Brady but they also lost so much more. Imagine if Indy lost Manning, Freeney, Sanders, Addai, Rhodes, their third RB, Their right guard and right tackle for the first half of the year (remember Neal and Kaczur were hurt for most of the early season, A starting cornerback for the season (yes Wheatley was a starter and probably our best CB even as a rookie) and one of their starting d lineman missed several of their games. They would be 4-8 or something terrible like that.
Obviously Im rooting for 11-5 and the playoffs but it is a miracle this team is in contention.
