Sheesh, you would think a man with a life as good of yours would have better things to do with his time!

:disagreement:

You'd think someone with such a great life wouldn't have to make fun of other people no matter what they say, but you'd be wrong.

It's utterly stupid. You say we're all losers for being on here and not being out on a Friday night, than I give a reason why I am not personally out and you make fun of that. Hey, dumba$s, YOU'RE on here, too. And you aren't even adding anything constructive to the topics.

Pleae, tell me how you can make fun of someone for doing the exact same thing you're doing?

I'm screwing around man. You insulted me, so I gave it back.

I don't have an attitude on the issue, I'm just used to it from working in the world of media. I believe that the average consumers attitude can be elevated, but since people are going to let their bias flatt into any issue, I don't think we could achieve what you are pitching on a national scale.

Think about it....is Joe the media director going to worry about pc reporting, or is he going to do the best he can to achieve his objective of providing content that consumers will respond to? In thir eyes they are reporting on a story based on facts ( and their objective is to report those facts in a way that draw the most traffic to their outlet). It's the power of the dollar my man, it will never, ever, change.

I've personally had it with Joe

My point is that "what consumers respond to" is often dictated by an attitude readjustment that results from increased awareness over an issue. An example of this would be the health food industry. 10 years ago, consumers were happy to shovel Super Size fries into their faces every day without thinking about what they were being sold. Now there is an ever-growing health food industry that directly resulted from consumers (to an extent) getting smarter and realizing they were being sold a bunch of crap. What consumers demand can change, as can the overall awareness of something, though it usually starts when it directly impacts your own, as you see with Pats fans. I do agree, however, that if the same people on this board were Colts fans, this wouldn't be an issue, but I've also seen more widespread discontent with ESPN lately. If the awareness arises for selfish reasons I think that's ok.

Fantastic points....but, that love to hate mentality will always skew the outrage. I was upset with ESPN last year, and then I dug into their numbers for the Boston market. It's a very calculated plan to reach us with a negative spin. They know America hates the pats, so they are trying their best to feed of that, but also draw us in at the same time. Right now the bulk of consumers crave negative spin in regards to the Patriots, vs back in 2001 when we were "Americas team", and ESPN could not remove their tounge from our......well you know.

MONEY.

I hear you, and it annoys me when people ***** about ESPN and still tune into it. I just hope that people figure out they're being manipulated like that.
