They are huh?

Really?

Well if we lose the next 10 in a row, will folks THEN have the right to boo, or will they be thrown on the guillotine and beheaded anyways, with chant's of " You no good jagoff, don't you realize what they have done for you!! Pretty soon you'll actually think that you pay their salaries"!!

They stunk up the joint like a JV team, they got booed for it.
Sorry, but it is what it is, and it's done....
I bet if they actually perform like an NFL team, there will be FAR less booing.

The New England Patriots had won an NFL record 21 straight regular season games. That means that nobody had ever won that many in a row before. It also means that nobody had ever won 22 in a row before. In fact, the team with the second longest regular season winning streak in NFL history is ALSO the Patriots, from just a couple of years back. The game that broke that streak was also a beatdown of the Patriots.

The assclowns who thought it was appropriate to boo were booing a team that had done what no team in NFL history had ever done before, and was finally seeing its streak snapped. They were classless idiots who don't deserve even the lowliest team to call 'theirs', never mind the best franchise in recent NFL history.

As a refresher, in September 2006, the year the Patriots lost the AFC Championship game, there was booing then. This is an excerpt from Brady's press conference:

Q:. The crowd seemed a little restless there at the end of the first half? Did you notice that? Were you surprised they were booing at you guys?

TB: I don't blame them. I don't think we gave them much reason to cheer. They want to see us do some things offensively, put the ball in the end zone, and we turned the ball over. We can't complete a pass, and I would be booing up there too if I was them.

Actually I disagree.

The fans were booing Kraft, because they figured out that the real Patriots weren't even on the field, because he was hosting a movie with a bunch of bad football actors.

Wrap your mind around that.

Nope, they were booing a team who had played a terrible, lackluster game who we know can do better.

Who are you to say otherwise, exactly?

I'm sorry. Could you please refresh my memory....

Was the Miami game a do or die situation where any kind of loss, good or bad, meant the end of the season?

Ok, now you're just being ridiculous. I can't say otherwise, but you can speak for them. Brilliant! Get back to me when you (how was it you phrased it, something like....) can discuss this like an adult.

I've never said anything like that to you. You're obviously an extremely intelligent guy and even if you weren't I don't make a point of being condescending to people. You're not doing a terrific job of returning the favor.

Every single person arguing in favor of booing has made the claim that they were booing that day's effort and nothing else. It isn't ridiculous to present that claim, nor is it reasonable to think that because neither of us can prove anything your opinion must be right.

Refresh mine [if you don't mind]: Was this an important game against a division rival in which the team put in zero effort at home against an inferior team which monumentally sqaundered any momemtum from the previous two crucial team wins and during the course of 60 football minutes changed the entire outlook (in the minds of the fans) of the '08 season?

Not to mention we need every win we can get this year, we won't coast into the playoff like we have the last 3 or 4.

And even if it wasn't, are you saying it's okay to boo a team whose backs are against the wall Deus?

You said it last night, and you're welcome to go find the post. As for booing the day's effort, how does that excuse anything? What's next? "I booed the first pitch of the game because it was a ball and I didn't think he gave enough effort to make it a strike"? Most people, even the idiots, boo based upon a totality of the circumstances.

What's not reasonable is a bunch of idiots booing a team that had been "up" enough to win 21 straight games because they finally had a game where there were unable to pull out the victory. 21 straight wins, a bloody NFL record, should have earned them the 'right' to have a clunker without myopic, idiotic fans going off on them. Instead, many of the fans decided to act like assclowns, and if it had been another team that did it, there would be about 100% agreement with the notion that those fans were, indeed, assclowns.

You're claiming that I did, I'm denying it and it's up to me to disprove you? Give me a break, you know better than that.

As I said to somebody else earlier in the day, it's obvious that there's a line here. If you're talking about booing in the first quarter after a couple of failed drives, then of course booing is inappropriate.

I don't think booing is inappropriate based on past accomplishments by the team if the team is playing the worst football in two years. You might disagree, but just because you call people names and feel more loyal to the team than me doesn't make your opinion better or more valid than mine. This is a subjective question, and I think we've reached the end of the debate.

Ok, so let's break this down...

1.) Those who think you people who booed were classless can't point to the 21 game streak, because it's about just one game.

2.) Those who booed, however, can freely decide that the New England Patriots, a team that has epitomized hustle, determination and effort since 2001, just decided to take the day off.

3.) Game 3 of the season, with the Patriots already at 2-0, is the perfect time to boo the team and jump off the bandwagon because.... well, because those booing say so.

Hey, did you know that if the season ended today, the Patriots would make the playoffs?

Did you know that there are only 5 teams with a 3-0 record and 1 team that's 2-0? That's right, after just 3 weeks, all but 6 teams already have at least one loss.

Did you know that one of those unbeaten teams is the Broncos, who are only unbeaten because of a blatant error which took a win away from the Chargers? Without that huge blunder, the league would already be down to 5 unbeaten teams and only 4 teams that had gotten to 3-0.

Now, taking the above, coupling it with the slow starts of the Colts and Chargers, where exactly is this requirement of perfection?

One difference I think we have is that I consider booing an expression of emotion. I don't think "hmm well let's look at these stats here and consider history and then I'll make an informed decision", I just see my team allow another rushing TD without much effort and I boo.

I'm talking about being at home by the way, I don't know if I would at the game or not. That should add to my point, I'm yelling at my TV and not really thinking so much

Ehh... I said I didn't remember the exact phrasing, so here it is....

"See what happens when you talk to me like a person instead of just assuming I'm a moron?"

D.I.:

Good, now we're getting somewhere in trying to rehabilitate your former talent as an objective poster.

1. You've just been presented with evidence that Tom Brady feels like booing the team might be appropriate if they are playing like crap.

2. The Pats played worse than crap on Sunday.

3. Some of the crowd boo'd

4. Get over it.

Go ahead, make up all the analogies and excuses you can in your encyclopedic football head--at this point you're just fighting with yourself in trying to justify your stubborn opinion.

When you're at home, yell and boo to your heart's content. My issue with the booing is not that people boo. My issue is time and place, specifically at the stadium during this particular game. When your son sets the school record for most "A" grades in a row and then tosses in an "F" after a huge shakeup at home, you don't beat his ass. You might talk with him to see what's wrong, or you might just let it go because he's earned the opportunity to make amends, but why on earth would you punish him or evince displeasure?

There's a REAL big difference between that and saying to me "respond when you're ready to post like an adult". One of them I'm saying you treated me badly, the other you're telling me I'm not an adult.

But forget about it, I don't want to waste everyone's time with personal crap.

JMarr, my 'talent' is fine. The fact that you concede my 'former' objectivity should have you rethinking your position rather than ranting about mine. My objectivity doesn't go away just because you don't agree with it. I love the way you toss the Brady quote in as if that's supposed to get me to chuck my position, when one of Brady's teammates says essentially the opposite.

Again, re-think your position rather than ranting about mine. One should always have people to serve as touchstones in any area of interest. If I ever find myself agreeing with Nancy Pelosi, for example, I immediately re-check the facts because I can be about 99.9888888888888345% sure that I'm wrong.
