The ultimate insult to Tom Brady

This whole ultimate insult to Tom Brady crap just pushed me the wrong way. I'm a fan of the term first, not the player. It just stinks of bandwagon wanker.
If Brady were to retire due to his injury and then come back in two years, after we've moved on with another QB, and he plays for the Jets or whoever, I'd be yelling at the TV for the Pats D line to sack his ass on every play.
I am a Pats fan for life and always have been.

Well put! um... 10

be honest. How many people on this board thought cassell was going to get released when the Patriots were getting to a 53 man roster? How many thought he should be released then? So now i am suppose to believe the guy can get the Patriots to the Super Bowl? If that is the case then what does that say about Brady. I personally do not care what Cassell stats are. He just needs to put up wins. I need to see him against some good teams before I deside. With the Pats schedule that maybe after the break. I havent lowered my standards it is win the Super Bowl or the season is a waste.

I am sick of seeing all these threads comparing the current situation to Brady coming in for Bledsoe. I think it is insulting to everything that Brady has brought to this franchise. what happened when Bledsoe got hurt is a once in a lifetime story where possibly the best QB of all time began his career and led a mediocre team to the SB. Comparing Cassel, who has proved zip after one week, to that situation is a complete and utter insult to Brady. Cassel is not and will never be at Brady's level.

So lets all get a little realistic. Lets hope Cassel can do enough to get us to the playoffs and hopefully we can make a run.

I tend to agree. I think a shot at the playoffs is realistic with the division in its current state. The team CAN win the Superbowl, but I am not optimistic about it, not even close. Let's see what Cassel does against the better Ds.

Like I said earlier, Bandwagon Wanker!!!!

Having a hard time visualizing how that works.

I was on the cut Cassel bandwagon. But after Brady pretended to be Cassel in game #1 and then Cassel came out and did a very good TB impression, I changed my mind and heeded the many who said ignoring the pre-season was the wisest course of action.

I was agreeing with the last line, rather than the insult bit. Oh, and you'll know if I'm a bandwaggoner if I jump off during a lean spell.

My last comment was directed to swheeler23 and not Gomezcat, whom I have a great deal of respect for.

I spelled waste wrong. Good for me. Brady had played the entire game against the Chiefs you think the score would have been that low for the Patriots? Give the guy more credit then that. He had not played all pre season. Was it his fault Moss dropped the pass he got hurt on?

No, it wasn't. I'm just saying, Cassel came in sharp and didn't throw the pick I guaranteed to my wife he would. Stamped for approval.

I pay the same price for my tickets as you. If I want to be a bandwagon fan I can be. I have not given up on the Pats. I just do not think Cassell is the answer. I hope he is. Because the rest of the team has worked hard also. Who knows maybe this is Harrison's last year. Some of the other guys could be in there last years also. Just because I have reservations about Cassell does not mean I am not a fan.

I understand where you are coming from. I really do! But, you say that "Cassel is not the answer". Ok. Then what is the answer???
This I'd like to know.

What does this really tell you? A ton of people THOUGHT a guy was going to get released but BB and the coaches NEVER had that cross their minds... Hmmm, yea that tells me that Cassel sucks because the masses are always right!

Well Cassell can't possibly be the answer because we don't have anyone by that name.

I did not say Cassell sucked. I said I am not sold on him yet. He is not replacing the 2001 Brady. He is replacing the 2007 mvp Brady. I understand he only needs to perform to Bradys 2001 level for the team to win. I just need to see him do that.

I think I will continue to spell it wrong until the Pats win tomorrow. I hate the Jets. I think we can all agree on that.

IIRC Brady's first start was against Manning and Company who were starting to become a force in the AFC at that time - Kansas City is a doormat team - Don't dare compare the debut of both QBs,its ******ed

From Wikipedia since you've apparently conveniently forgotten the 2001 Colts spawned the oft replayed postgame clip of "Playoffs??! Don't talk about playoffs! I'm just hoping we can win another game..." :

"The Colts suffered only the second losing season of Peyton Manning's career. After opening with dominant wins over the Jets and Buffalo, the Colts were crushed twice in three games by the Patriots to go with a loss to Oakland. Two more wins followed but the season fell apart with losses in seven of the season's final nine games; a 40-21 rout by the San Francisco 49ers set off an infamous postgame press conference rant by coach Jim Mora in which he harped on four Manning interceptions, repeatedly noting one was returned (by the Niners' Zack Bronson) for a touchdown and the others set up San Francisco scores, and a fumble and angrilly scoffed at a reporter's question about the Colts' playoff chances. Mora was fired after the season."

BTW Tom did little that impacted that game postively or negatively. He was 13/23 for 168 yards but with no TD's or INTS. He simply didn't make any glaring mistakes. Manning on the other hand had a QB rating in the 40's on the day... We basically literally ran over the Colts that day. The Colts didn't make the playoffs that season and Manning didn't make the pro bowl...so as first opponents go turned out they were not all that unlike what the Herm Edwards led 2008 KC Chiefs project to be.
