That would be a tough rule to enforce, as it would require the official to make a judgment in real time about the impact of a block that happens in less than a second on the end of a play. I'm as anxioius to protect the QB as anyone, but, I'm afraid that this is just part of the game.
I wasn't able to watch yesterday's game, but learned of the hit on the internet. So, I turned on the tube in a ripping rage, ready to scream at the picture about a dirty hit. But, I didn't see one. He was blocked into Brady and was clearly just continuing his tackling motion when he made contact with his leg. We're all looking at in now in super slo-mo, but it happened "bang bang" in no more than a second. If the block had grounded the tackler a foot (or even six inches) shorter, we'd be talking about a 34--10 win this morning.
