This also gets me thinking, though, that perhaps the wisdom of Vinny's input on the sidelines isn't considered all that valuable.
That's what I was thinking. They wanted to protect Gutierrez at least for the time being and can bring back Vinny anytime. This also gets me thinking, though, that perhaps the wisdom of Vinny's input on the sidelines isn't considered all that valuable.
I'm honestly not sure.
I'm not saying he's not worthy, just that I definitely had Rogers higher on my list than Gutierrez.
FWIW, though, Gutierrez was actually out on ST on Thursday. . . .
Any thoughts?

I'm very surprised that they cut Rogers given that he was higher on your list than Gutierrez.

Following that trend didn't hurt us much last year. In fact it was a great move.I don't think it was ever going to be Gutierrez or Rogers. It was either Gutierrez or Vinny. I doubt the Pats would have gone into the season again with only 2 QBs. That was a hot trend in the NFL for about 2 minutes. Now most teams carry three QBs again.

I think Vinny was an automatic cut. He isn't going anywhere. Nor is he likely to improve with much practice time.
That goes for keeping him and the chance of losing him trying to get him to the practice squad. He won't compete this year with Cassel but the chance of losing him and the consequence if he were lost is just higher than that of others.- And maybe what it comes down to is that, given a QB and LB of equal promise, a QB is wayyyy more valuable.
