Sanchez will go down as one of my favorite QBs of all time, for the butt fumble alone. Comedic genius.
I always have that special .gif ready to drop....

I think the Pats most likely will get a 3rd or 4th round pick for Mallett if he is traded. However, I have not ruled out the Pats getting a second round pick for him.
Here's a scenario, assuming BOB likes Mallett enough to offer value:
- Texans want Clowney but decide that they can't go into 2014 with their current QB roster
- Texans offer to swap positions in round 2 and 3 in exchange for Mallett (The trade chart equivalent of trading pick #47 to the Patriots)
- Texans get Clowney and Mallett, and keep all their picks, while the Patriots move up into position to get both the TE and DL in the top 33, and they'd be in great position to grab an interio OL at the top of round 3
- Texans get one year tryout with Mallett and can sell their fans on having the ability to draft a QB in a better year for them (2015), if needed
Ecstatic is the word that would come to mind for me as a Patriots fan, and it doesn't screw over the Texans in the deal.
OT, I know BUT...really, even if you have no feelings about the Jets one way or the other..are those NOT the fugliest uniforms worn in ANY sport anywhere? Just bleaah green puke and white....like they told some wino "hey, come up with a uniform the brings Jets to mind"...fail....massive ever fail
In the ground, 5 yards behind the receiver?
I agree that would be a bad trade for a potential franchise quarterback. However, it would be perfectly reasonable for Ryan Mallett.Last season Belichick traded the #29 overall pick for #52, #83, #102, and #229, that netted the Vikings a wide receiver. You are suggesting that we trade a potential franchise QB to exchange draft picks in rounds 2 and 3.

I am not saying it is not a creative idea, it is and I commend you on constructing it but it would never happen, Belichick is not going to trade a top 20 talent from the 2011 draft who has done nothing to indicate he could not play QB at a high level in the NFL for upgraded picks. Belichick would want to benefit in the form of a player or additional pick.
Keep in mind that if Mallett is gone we have to replace him, which means a draft pick or salary cap will have to be used in addition to the trade itself.
the day the pats get a 2th round pick for Mallet will also be the day that Julian Edelman gets a contract for 8 million per year
Cousins has actually played in the regular season.
Mallet has learned from winners.
I have to confess that this mentality baffles me. Does anyone think that Tom Brady is taking 2 seconds of his valuable time to help coach up Ryan Mallett? Oh, sure, when the media asks about it, they are the best of friends helping each other out left and right. But in reality, I doubt anything even remotely like that is going on.Mallet has stayed out of trouble and learned from the GOAT
What evidence does anyone have that he is actually an NFL quarterback??
