Hey fellas, it's your Miami Dolphins correspondent stopping by trying to get a feel for what you all want to happen this off-season.

What do you all want to do in the draft? What positions do you hope to fill via free agency and which players are your targets? Show me your Patriots off-season plan and if any one wants to, I'll show you the plan I've drawn up for my Dolphins. At Finheaven, there seems to be two camps to each issue. For instance, there are guys who love Chambers and guys who hate him. Do you have any of that going on here, and if so, what are the isssues. Fill me in Pats fans!

Thanks guys, looking forward to what everyone has to say.

You guys owe us for letting Irving Fryar go... So if you don't want Chambers, I'm sure we'll take him :)

I think the priorities for Pats fans are:

    1. Get younger and add depth at linebacker. Bruschi is winding down and between him and Seau we don't have a clear cut future at ILB. There are some options in FA like Mitchell and Harris, but I think most of the moves must come from the draft in players like Patrick Willis and David Harris. In the meantiime we could add vets like London Fletcher and Donnie Edwards in free agency.

    2. A. At cornerback, if we do not retain Samuel then we need to find another starter, and add depth. There aren't many CB stars in the draft this year but there are good players to be had like Revis, Houston, Ross, and Hughes.

    B. With Rodney's career winding down, we need to look to the future at safety. Over the past two seasons due to injuries and other reasons we have often had decent but not great guys playing safety. James Sanders I think will develop in to a good safety but I think we need to add a "playmaker" through the draft in someone like Griffin, Merriweather, or Rouse.

    3. Since McGuinest left, we really haven't had the true elephant outside linebacker for our 3-4 defense. Adalius Thomas would ideally be the best fit, but if we can not get him we need to draft a DE and turn him into a big outside linebacker to become the elephant.

    4. In the playoffs Brady and Gaffney started to develop something but I think between him and Gaffney they are ideally the number 2/3 receivers. Our offense doesn't need a Pro Bowl #1, but I we should have someone who can be relied on for about 950 yards. The real unknown is what Chad Jackson will become next year. I think we should and will draft at least one WR and in free agency the most attractive options are Bennett and possibly Stallworth.

You could do the Pats a favor and send us Wes Welker for Marquis Hill and a box of donuts :D

I don't get the fascination with Wes Welker. I see him as a younger Tim Dwight, but people act like he is Steve Smith. He only had as any receptions as he did last year because Chabers and McMichaels both had very down years. When Welker is getting that many receptions it is not a good thing and that helped lead to the Dolphins 6-10 record.

You just gotta watch him play, he's a "football player", and a "play maker". I agree with the masses. He'd be a fine addition to any team, and since the Patriots are "my" team, I'd rather he be on the Pats' roster.:)

Also, he played really well against the Pats in game one, to the point where BB had to gameplan against Welker in game two. I like the guy as a player, very much.

Not to mention, an addition of Welker to the Pats means a subtraction from the Phins.:)

I would call Tim Dwight a "football player" too. Some were hailing him as the next Troy Brown. He would go all out on punt returns and play with the wreckless abandon the way people praise Welker for doing. And in terms of being a playmaker he had some of the biggest catches of the 2005 season. I think he has more big play receiving ability than Welker. Welker is more of a possession receiver despite his speed. The reason he played such a big role in Miami this year is simply because there was no one else.

If I could pick any "lesser" known receiver within the division to play on this team it would be Jerricho Cotchery of the Jets, not Wes Welker.

Haha! Chambers isn't going anywhere my friend. I would die if Chambers crossed over to the Patriots, man I can't imagine that.

Thanks Zippo, I agree with you on basically everything you said.

As for Welker fellas, I don't think he'll be back with the Dolphins next year. I had a post on him earlier here, hold on, let me find it.

    EDIT: Here it is.

I love Wes to death and don't want to see him go. But it may be in the best interest of the team if we go our seperate ways with Wes. I will tell you one thing though, it would kill me to see him in a Patriots uniform, I honestly just can't imagine that.

My personal scouting report on Wes is a sure handed short yardage slot receiver. He doesn't stretch the field or take shots vertically, but when it's 3rd and 5, you like to look for Welker. He has some good punt returns, but he is not explosive on kick or punt returns at all. He likely won't give you any TDs from the return game, and you usually are starting from the 25 after his kick returns.

Like I said, I love Wes and seeing him as a Pat would just suck. We'll take Samuel if you guys take Welker though, how about that?

Chambers, no kidding! That doofus drops more passes more than he catches.

Actually, one of the things I wanted for the off-season was provided - another loser HC for Miami.

Aquaman - Who are the Fins leaning towards for the starting QB? Or who do the fans want to see in the huddle calling the signals?

They can keep Chambers. The guy is the most inconsistent WR in the league. He can have 15 catches for 200 yards on game and not break 30 yards in any of the next four games. He drops a ton of balls. He is one of the more overrated WRs in the league and Dolphins fans constantly give him the "well look at the QBs throwing to him excuse". No matter who has been his QB, one thing has been consistent for Chambers - dropped balls.

I agree that people seem to overrated Welker on this board, but I think he is better than Tim Dwight was. I think he is a decent WR with excellent return skills. Since it will take at least a second rounder to get Welker, I think I would pass on the guy.

    My wishlist:
    - I want the Dolphins to be predicted as Superbowl contenders and then start 1-6....
    - I want Jason Taylor to not play against the Patriots
    - I want the Dolphins to change coaches every 2 years
    - I want the continued run of QB excellence to continue (Marino, Feidler, Culpepper, Harrington, etc.)

    The usual for the Pats:
    - fortify LBs
    - add a weapon at WR

Most of all I want the football season to start now....

Wes Welker is closer to a younger version of Troy Brown than he is a younger version of Tim Dwight.

Welker has very good hands, runs good routes and gets seperation. Oh, and he is pretty damn tough. Unlike Tim "Glass Hamstring" Dwight.

While it's just foolish to predict greatness from the rookie head coach, we are excited for the most part. Our offense was enemic last year, our defense won every game that we did win with the exception of one so it's no secret that they are championship material. Bringing in Cameron gives us a reason to believe that the offense will improve and that guys like Chambers and McMichael will be used properly this year like they were in 2005. Also, Cameron is a QB specialist and made Frerotte a pro bowler once apon a time. We hope he can get Daunte's confidence back and help him making those hot reads.

So, all in all we are pleased. However, I'm not going to judge Cameron until he has 2 or 3 years under his belt. Only then will we see just how good of a hire he is. But to answer your question, as of now, we are happy with Cam.
