Assumption 1: Morgan, Odrick and Spiller are off the board at #22 but some other very desirable guys are on the table such as Weatherspoon, Davis, etc.
Assumption 2: Jacksonville wants to draft Tebow badly.
Assumption 3: Cleveland has a guy they highly desire in round 2 that they don't think makes it to round 3.
Round 1 #22: Trade back for an early 2nd and a #1 pick in 2011. Any of the top 10 worst teams would be a suitable candidate. For example, let's say Detroit takes Suh. They still have a hole at LT and nobody to protect Stafford. They see that Anthony Davis is available at #22. I'd certainly take their early 2nd and future 1st. They'd get a franchise LT to protect their QB in addition to getting the best defensive player in the draft!
Round 2 #44: Trade back with Jacksonville for their 3rd round pick and a 2nd rounder in 2011. They get - Tebow!
Round 2 #53: Trade back with Cleveland for their early 3rd and a future 2nd round pick. They get - somebody who would be long gone before the 3rd round started.
Look at how that sets up the Pats drafts:
2010
Round 2.2 #34
Round 2.15 #47
Round 3.7 #71
Round 3.10 #74
Round 4 #116
Round 6 #180
Round 7 #213
2011
1st round pick - from Raiders
1st round pick - from Detroit
1st round pick - Patriots own pick.
2nd round pick - from Jax
2nd round pick - from Cleveland
2nd round pick - Patriots own pick.
That gives you 3 1st round picks in 2011 and 3 2nd round picks in 2011 WITH a Rookie Salary cap in place! Would you do it? I would!
