Trading 2025 1st , what can we get?

Nabers would definitely be in the conversation if he’s available at 6. Had him going to LAC at 5 but who knows what direction harbaugh goes.

NYG seems like a great trade partner if we’re not 100% sold on who’s left of maye/daniels and they are. Could really help us on upgrading the talent on offense.
That's my thinking too with so many needs on Offense I leaning towards Trading #3 the Giants have a lot of ammo. Our Offense need a complete overhaul we need some Boundary WR's a TE and the obvious QB. I am leaning towards a second tier QB and upgrade around him. Ras what's your take on Joe Milton??

6th 7th round flyer. He needs to be on that multi year Jordan love development plan.

If they ever expanded the roster size where you can afford to take a Hail Mary specialist he’s the guy.

Dam Ras you don't like him at all. :)

He’s got a cannon. He’s gonna look good in a combine setting showing off the arm with no defenders. But then I look at the senior bowl and his performance was pretty rough. Compare it to rattler who looked much better.

I love the Rat in the third tier if we double dip.

Do not trade away future picks

We can prob move up into the late teens early 20s. However I have no interest in moving what is likely a top 15 pick to do that.
Two of the greatest coaches in NFL history, Tom Landry and Bill Belichick, started their careers in abysmal fashion. Landry had one tie and eleven losses in his first season. It wasn't until his seventh season that he had a winning record. Belichick started six and ten and it took him four seasons to get a winning record. To expect a novice head coach like Mayo to outperform two great head coaches who both had much more experience than him (interestingly, both Landry and Belichick were defensive coordinators for the Giants for multiple years) is very optimistic. The Pats will almost certainly will have a top fifteen pick, and a very good chance of being inside the top ten. To trade that pick away, no matter how theoretically weak the 2025 looks now, makes no sense.

Depends on how they address needs in FA this year. Plug enough of the gaps with quality players, expending capital as proposed can be entertained. A meh FA and no, you don’t toy with the 2025 first.

If they trade the 2025 1st round pick for something this year, would that be enought to get a end of 1st round pick or they need to throw something extra?

We are optimistic with the recent changes it's ok we are fans but other fan bases or GMs might not be sold on the Pats, there's a realistic chance we are drafting in the 13-20 range next year, maybe higher.

It seems this years draft is a lot better than next.
Instead of trading #3 down , I'm in favor of trading up back in the 1st round sacrificing next draft not this.

They don’t need to use the 2025 1st , they can move up into the first using their second and third round picks.

You'd better be damn confident you're winning at least 7-8 games if you're going to trade that pick, if you trade that pick and it ends up in the top 5 that's a good way to be out of a job as a GM.

I don’t think I would trade next year’s 1st, but I would look to add extra 2nd or 3rd rounders. I would be willing to send my 2nd rounder next year and a 4th rounder this year in exchange for a low 2nd/high 3rd this year, something like that.

This is so wrong. Don't mortgage the future. The Patriots needs lots of players not one or two gambles.

The proper thing to do is trade back this year and get another team's 2025 first. Then restock the OL and WR corps this year so that we can get that franchise QB next year and he will come into a good situation.....unless Daniels is available at three. I watched some tape and he is incredible but surely he will be gone by 3.

The only reason a bad team (like us) should even consider trading a future first is if you use it to trade up to get a top rookie QB you cover. If you do it for any other reason you are a moron/crap bag franchise or the panthers. So for us, if we trade a future first it better be to get Caleb Williams

Which is what they will end up having to do if they don’t get their franchise QB in this draft.

Trading back this year just means they will have to give up 3 first rounders a year or two from now to move up for the franchise QB they passed on this year. Better to draft the QB this year, let them sit a year while they upgrade the offense this offseason and next, and start them with a much better team in 25’. If they way to get the QB we are looking at a much higher cost in picks, as well as a delay in them producing for them. I would rather see them take the QB now and have those first rounders to get top talent to help them in the coming years, when they should be in contention, and will need them to beat the best teams.

Trading our 2025 1st, which will likely be in the 1-15 range, for a 2nd this year seems very very dumb.

What if they think the QB left at 3 blows? Take him anyways? Just because he’s a qb? It’s not as black and white as you make it

How would the Pats know the actual value of that pick?

What if the Pats win 4 games in 2024 only this time they have the 1st pick in the 2025 draft.

This team is not a few moves away from contending for a Super Bowl. That is the only goal. Bologna Bob wants the playoffs and making the playoffs only to lose early is what the Bengals did for years.

No way I'm trading that first. That could be top ten again.

Ar

This has been answered a million times. No one thinks they should take the QB if they don’t believe in the player. If that happens they have to trade back and take the best players at those draft spots. At which point they don’t have to pick for need because they aren’t going to go anywhere without a QB anyways. But what I see many here saying is don’t take the QAB, but still draft for need as though they did , which makes no sense at all. If they don’t have a QB then just draft the players you thing will become all pro’s. Why pass in the QB, then pass on a player you think will become an All Pro CB just to take the fifth best OL? You don’t have to take an OL that high because you aren’t going to be protecting your franchise, do take the best player and fill the need with a later pick or a cap cut. Trying to build by need, instead of drafting for the best talent is how you end up sucking year after year. Going for need is how the Browns ended up with William Green and Baltimore ended up with Ed Reed, or how the Browns got Justin Gilbert while the Rams got Aaron Donald.
