Quality depth. Injuries happen. We have three guys in the receiving corps with injury histories: Gronk, Edelman, and Amendola. Four if you count Dobson. Do you really want to roll into a game with the kind of depth that we had in the 2013 playoffs? Because I know I don't. I suspect the team knows this because they weren't working out later round WR's and trying to sign Stevie Johnson for ****s and gigs.
I agree that they view WR as a depth need- but not a critical one.
You can't layer your roster with so much depth at one position that other positions that also require quality depth are also neglected. You know this.
That's what I posted that in the event that a TE or WR or two go down, TB has more than enough targets to throw to. The key is to have as many guys on your roster than can catch the football and have positional and schematic flexibility as opposed to stockpiling wide receivers.
