As is the case with most statistics the data is open to interpretation. As such the conclusion that L Bizzle comes to is nothing more than his opinion. There is no empirical evidence that Manning has "figured out the Pats defense". It is a possible explanation but not the only one. Equally tenable is the fact that the Patriots' defense is not as good as their dominating years, and certainly it was a common theme from 2005 onwards that the defense was "old". Another interpretation of the data would support the argument that the re-emphasis of the contact rules has made an impact on the ability of the defense to contain the passing offense.
There is no provable case in this argument other than the fact that the Colts have won 5 of the last 6. Manning is very good at reading and reacting to defenses (not just those of the Patriots) but it certainly does not mean that he will win every game because he has worked out the Patriots defense.
