Drew Henson was the #1 QB prospect in the nation, and Brady beat him out for the job, but still had to take a backseat to him, and then had to be brought in to save Michigan over and over. Brady knew he was the best QB in that draft, but the talent evaluators were completely blind to it. He also said he was going to take the job of the # 1 overall pick, who had just signed 100 million $$$ contract, and he did that as well.
I don’t disagree that Belichick helped to shape him into the greatest QB if all time, but Brady always put in the hard work to get there, never forgot what it took, and never took it for granted or stopped working at it. And that’s what it really takes to be great, and figuring that out is the most difficult job these teams have. It’s also another reason I believe they should be taking the QB at 3, because they need to start trying to get their franchise QB now, and keep trying if need be until they find them.
