He did it when he coached the Jets, and Monday, as head coach of the Bills heading into Sunday's game with the Pats, he's doing it again.
“I can’t wait to see what our fans are going to be like when you have the hated Patriots — I mean, this kind of rival coming in," Ryan said at a press conference.
Although it never takes much to get Ryan's juices flowing, the Pats always bring out a little something extra in the ever-quotable coach whose team stands at 1-0 after a 27-14 win over the Colts on Sunday.
“I’m looking forward to it. I’m so glad that we play the game here," he said. "So that’s gonna be fun."
Even though the Jets, Dolphins, Bills and Pats all won the first week, Ryan still sees the Pats as the team to beat.
“I don’t know if anything has changed," he said. "They’re kind of the hunted in my eyes. They’re the world champions.
"The Patriots… they’re the ones you want to beat.”
He said his plan has been ready for a long time.
“Heck, I’ll go home early."
Ryan was just as colorful when it came to the Patriots' personnel.
"I think we'll stand by our record against (Rob Gronkowski)," Ryan said. "He's tough. There's no question. He's huge. He's a hell of an actor."
When it came to Pats running back Dion Lewis, Ryan brushed him off.
"I don't care, put anybody back there," he said. "You can do good there. All right? Nah, I mean they're decent backs in their own right. But I don't think we're gonna focus on that kid. I can't even tell you that kid's name."
If the Bills aren't successful in running the ball they will get killed.Woodhead/ Vereen historically had a lot of success in the passing game against the Jets under Rex. I think he's serious if he's speaking about him running the football though. Don't think Rex even schemes to stop the run, against us. Just kind of a given at this point.
If the Bills aren't successful in running the ball they will get killed.
Taylor is a caretaker QB right now as he is a rookie.
Taylor is in his fifth year, he was the Ravens back-up for the last four. I pretty sure he came out of Va Tech in 2011 draft. So he is no rookie, still he is not Montana or even Vick in his pre-dog killing days.
Don't know why you'd want to stoke his fire. Tiny guy that gets overlooked and runs like the house is on fire? Think he's got a chip on his shoulder?
