Pats QB Room in for 2024

Since awful QB play caused at least 3 losses, we would be 5-5 if we didn’t have a slug at qb and we have 90 million to spent in free agency.
Giving up a year in order to wait on a draft pick who may cause you to give up another 3 is not a good plan.
It's not a given you will hit it . We need to get best available players before we reach for a QB. At this point the team is abysmal and free agents are usually middling ones . You get pathbreaking players only when you trade mid season from one of the tanking teams .

No good player ever is available in true free agency . We got lucky with Henry and Judon and to certain extent Bourne. Rest all have been monumental whiffs.

Firstly, we absolutely have to smash free agency

Fix the OL and give the QB, whoever he may be, at least one viable target.

After that, assuming we take a QB in the first, I'm kinda drinking the Bo Nix koolaid...

After watching the last two games, do people really think we are winning 6 games.

Yeah, the last two games were two of the easiest games on their schedule. The Broncos are playing much better and are on a two game win streak including a win against KC. The Jets are playing better and might have Aaron Rodgers back and a 50% Rodgers is better than a 100% Wilson. Pittsburgh is winning despite having no QB. The Giants is the only game where the Pats will be favored.

You never win with any bridge QB. Mac is the cheapest decent bridge QB you can get. If you think we can win next year with any QB we draft , you would need to be awarded the most loyal pats fan ever medal .
I can tell that we can win more than with Mac that’s for sure and calling him decent is an insult to decent

How do you get the best available players if the free agents all suck?

What is your plan? Every team with a terrible QB becomes a contender when they get an above average one. Mac Jones is making the other 10 guys look bad.

A decent QB would be putting up numbers and wins with what we have. Receivers are getting open, jones can’t find them. The play highlighted last week had him check into a play that got his primary receiver wide open and he didn’t throw it. Yesterday the play BOB got pissed about there were 3 guys open and he took a sack.
The final int was simply pathetic.

If Bill is still the GM they will get nothing and like it!

That's basically been his attitude towards offense. Bill took Brady/josh for granted taking care of that end.
And yet Bill still managed to find higher-tier talent for Brady than he has for Jones.

receivers are occasionally getting open, and Mac isn't finding them

let's not pretend our WRs are running gangbusters......multiple teams have talked about how they can simply lock us up man and load up inside

of course Indy realized they can do both......they rushed 4 all day, STILL got lots of pressure, and still bottled up our WRs

because this OL & these WRs are piss poor as unit

no reason to get rid of Mac while he is on a rookie contract and BOB is OC abd Bill is HC.
Mac can help a rookie until the rookie is ready
I would think it would take a rookie almost a full season or until the team is eliminated from the playoffs

I just hope they have someone that can turn heads in the QB room

day 1/2 draft pick
zappe
vet journeyman like dobbs
cunningham

--> definetely under no circumstances michael mccorkle

And if he doesn't for the next QB results will be similar.

In today's NFL your top 3 can't be parker/Bourne/juju.

At least Douglas looks like a keeper. Had we kept Meyers we would just be missing a #1

Yup. It's basically that 50% of the time the receivers are locked down. The other 50% of the time that one of the might get a little open you have a roullette of

1. Mac misses a throw
2. They drop a pass
3. The line gives up pressure immediately and sends Mac scrambling or gets him sacked
4. They complete a pass.

There's just too many chances for something bad to happen because you have a low percentage chance of viable opportunities anyways.

Mac Jones
Jayden McDaniels ( they traded down and picked up an extra 2nd or 3rd)
Quality vet back up.

That's fine. He will help us get a better draft pick in 2025 as well and a much lower bar for our rookie QB to overcome.

Whoever comes in new is going to be compared with Mac.

Except the 2025 QB class is not that great. The year to take a QB high is this year not next year.

Mac Jones should be nowhere near New England next year

Veteran: Andy Dalton (He played the best football of his life earlier this year......he's ready to be a starter again. I'd hand him the keys and let the rookie develop on the bench for a year. Stick with the Brady-Year 2 plan).
Rookie: 1st or 2nd rounder
Returnee: Grier or Zappe....whoever wins out.

Mac must be let go. I'd cut him loose right now. I don't ever want to see him in a Patriots uniform again.
