Patriots Sign Tim Tebow

From a Bob Kraft interview on CNBC:

“We want high quality people who work hard, are team players. I don’t think there is a nicer person that I’ve ever met, and now he’ll get to compete with all the other people at the position, and our hope is that he’s on our 53-man roster. …

“… I think Tom Brady, we’re privileged to have the best quarterback in the history of the game. But we’re a physical game. Injuries happen. We have another very good quarterback in Ryan Mallett. We’re allowed three quarterbacks. We’re in the business of quality depth management. We have a salary cap and we need a number of different competitive players for depth. You never know what’s going [to happen]; Tom Brady missed the whole season a few years ago. You can’t enough quality people in any of your businesses.”

Agreed...it's been the general consensus on this board that McDaniel had a lot to do with other signings from his Denver/St. Louis stints so it's not un reasonable to believe he was also involved in the signing of Sideshow Tim.

Consensus uneducated opinion on this board is not proof, so drawing a conclusion based on it is folly.

Was talking Tebow tonight with the pals, and during the part about his situation last year with the Jets, -bam-, it dawned on me... Why the hell didn't Tebow get a shot to run the Beans when Sanchez got benched? Seriously, if there was one starting QB in the league last year who Tebow might have legitimately have been a better option, it was over 'Cheese running the Jets.

#1 The Jet's front office is a bunch of morons.

#2 It was a no win situation for them. They new they were stuck with Sanchez for at least another year. If Tebow came in and did ok, he would have been light years better than Sanchez, and then you would have had a huge outcry to get rid of Sanchez, killing any possible trade value he had. It also would have put huge fan pressure on the Jets to sign Tebow to a contract, which they obviously had no interest in doing.

#3 Finally, at that point in the season, the Jets knew they had no chance in making the playoffs, losing games was a much better course of action for them, then winning them was.

There was value in evaluating Greg McElroy, too. In fact, they probably should have started evaluating McElroy earlier than that. But there was a disconnect between the coaching staff that didn't want Tebow and the front office and ownership who had traded for Tebow, too.

Yah. I'm at the gym working out and Kraft comes on with all this Tebow spiritual stuff. While admittedly I'm not much of a spiritual person and really a science guy, I'm awaiting all the Tebow spiritual guy haters here to unload on Kraft or admit they're hypocrites. Perhaps (Please be quiet - edited) would be their best option.

Yeah it is kinda weird how the haters are soooooooo quiet when it comes time to go after Kraft and Belichick for bringing in Tebow. Oh and yes the decision to bring in Tebow was run by Bob before they signed him.

Kitty Kat got your hatin' tongue there kids?? :D

Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

Since the other thread was filled with alot of bs, I figured I make this thread solely on what role do we want the pats to use Tebow. I would like to see him develop as a quarterback. I think his biggest problem is his throwing motion. He needs to get that fixed.

He needs to live, breath practicing on how to fix his throwing motion into a normal one and have it become instinctual too him. What I mean by that is when he is getting pressured by LB/DB is a game, I don't want him reverting back to his ugly throwing motion but instead maintaining the normal throwing motion.

Second he needs to work on reading opposing defenses. He is working with the best coach in football and one of the best offensive coordinators on josh Mcdaniels so that shouldn't be a problem in the long run.

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

He's never going to convert to another position.

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

I have followed Tebow since he got out of high school (when I found out about the broken leg touch down run) and have kept up with what he has done ever since and I can honestly say...I have no idea what is going to happen.

make the team or not?
Develop as 3rd QB and scout team QB?
2 point conversion specialist?
HB/TE Play?

who knows....

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

Well he's not a TE and he's barely a QB, so I vote neither.

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

AT&T salesman?

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

scout team QB is the answer

next question?

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

1st needs to make the team.

2nd needs to prove he could play either position.

At this point it's like me deciding if i should buy a Ferrari or a Lamborghini.

Haha, I'm kidding. I think we should use him as a RB or TE.

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

If he makes the team I think he needs to spend two or more years studying full time at the University of Brady away from the cameras. Although I am sure he would like to contribute this year... he is the third string QB. He can run the scout team, sit and, hopefully, develop into an efficient passer.

Yes and any other role Coach thinks will help us win another Lombardi.

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

Ugh...i'm sick of hearing about Tebow.

The dude has never played TE if i'm not mistaken so why would he suddenly be a viable option on a team stacked with TEs? And please don't compare him to AH athletically. That was a laugh.

re: Should Tim Tebow be used as a QB or TE

I can image training camp going like this
Drill Coach: Tebow! What's your sole purpose on this football team?

Tebow Gump: To do whatever you tell me, drill coach!

Drill Coach: God **** it, Tebow! You're a god damn genius! This is the most outstanding answer I have ever heard. You must have a god**** Wonderlic Scor. of 45. You are god**** gifted, Tebow. Listen up, people...

Tebow Gump: (reflecting) "He shouldn't use the lord's name in vain like that"
