Panthers hire Colts' Meeks as defensive coordinator

From what I've read, John Fox has complete control of that D. It doesn't matter how good/bad his DC is(Tguro, or however you spell his name, wasn't all that great to begin with).

The big problem for the Panthers in the last couple of years, however, has been their PERSONNEL. When they went deep in the playoffs in '03 and '05, they had one of the best DLs in all of football. Now, it's only a shell of its former self.

Not saying he isn't, but I don't see how Meek's isn't well thought of. The Colts were the 6th best defense in PA, which is pretty amazing if you take a look at the portion of their cap that goes into offense vs defense.

Meeks was also handicapped with mediocre-to-rotten DTs in his tenure there. The one time he DID have a good DT pair(Raygor and Simon), they didn't work out too well in the long run b/c of either injuries and/or lack of motivation.

Pt being that you can only play with the cards you are dealt with. Everyone seems to think firing a coach is the best and only solution...but at the same time, these same people tend to overlook the underlying problems.
