Yet, if somebody made the argument that Ted Williams hit successfully during every at-bat, one would probably cite that same statistic.
Again, there's no harm in signing a guy, throwing him into training camp competition, and see what he's got. But just because it happens doesn't mean it's the beginning of a rousing success story. The truth is, if the Jets or Dolphins signed Lynch, most of these same posters would be laughing at them for signing a washed up player. But because it's Belichick, it's a genius move.
I don't mind Belichick being criticized, because I sometimes do it myself. What I have a problem with is "Monty Beisel" being offered as some proof that Belichick "is human." That's like reminding me that Ted Williams made an out six times out of every ten at bats in 1941.
