Ok, this guy has been getting crap all year. But if you look at the offensive performance over the last month, the offense is clicking (40, 24,40, and 30 points respectively). Yeah, there are stretches in the games where the offense is not effective, but they were in Weis' offense too. McDaniels' gameplan for today was great. We had three drives today that we didn't score on and one was the Dillon fumble drive which was not McDaniels' fault. We also had 4 ten plus play drives.
Also, I went back and looked at the 2003 season (since everyone calls Weis a genius and that was a Super Bowl year) and compared the yearly totals for the offense compared to this year. Look at these stats (only regular season):
Points per Game
2003: 21.8
2006: 24.1
(Note: The Pats had 6 defensive TDs in 2003, 5 INT and 1 fumble recovery, and none in 2006, both teams had 1 special teams TD)
Adjusted PPG after removing Defensive and Special Teams TDs
2003: 19.2
2006: 23.7

2003: 5039
2006: 5369

2006: 330
Third Down Percentage
2003: 37.0% (227 attempts)
2006: 42.5% (226 attempts)
Fourth Down Percentage
2003: 42.9 (14 attempts)
2006: 80.0% (20 attempts)

2003: 32
2006: 29
Giveaways

I think it is time for the McDaniels haters to come around and give this guy some credit. He is really beginninng to look like an up and coming OC in this league.
