Patriots. The Sox have done great this Summer and have more of a buzz compare to last year when they miss the playoffs. The Patriots second most well known player is Chad Ochocinco, given that Chad has tv show on MTV.

The Patriots (and the NFL) are more popular than the Bankofamericasox/MLB overall in New England. The Bankofamericasox always will have their Boston-centric legion of core lemmings -- staid, in-bred, parochial anachronists. Bruins fans will overtake them as well, in time.
The Red Sox have bigger fan base then the Pats across the country. Your right about the NFL being bigger then baseball but not in New England, although it's close.
PATS are on TOP and that won't change ever b/c it is the NFL
You are wrong. The Pats overtook the Bankofamericasox in popularity region-wide several years ago. This has been confirmed more than once by local radio surveys. The NFL is MUCH bigger than MLB regionally and nationwide. The only place where baseball reigns in this area is within the city of Boston -- it's a small but very hardcore traditional fan base.
HAHAHA, thats like saying the bulls are more popular than the cubs in chicago because of what jordan did and his popularity.
Huh? How so? I give you solid information backed objectively by local media. Where does your perspective draw from?
Okay, because new york has 2 sports teams in the "most popular" sport are they more popular than the yankees?
The red sox have a more loyal and die hard fanbase unlike the pats. No disrespect, but after the Bill & brady era is over do you really think fans will still care as much?
The red sox even in losing seasons still sellout and are packed. Don't let the patriots nonstop success cloud your judgement on who really is on top.
The cubs have won nothing and they are still the number 1 team in chicago.
Anyone have a link to the Patriots pre-season game having higher ratings than Red Sox vs. Yankees during a pennant race?
How about the Boston Globe survey of best sports moment where Adam Vinatieri's kick in XXXVI beat the last out of the 2004 World Series? (Admittedly it'll be with a sports writer explaining how the fans are wrong -never mind how the Globe is a silent partner in the Red Sox ownership.)

The last time Fenway wasn't packed full was in May of 2003.
The MLB is a joke.
The Red Sox had the curse. When they suck again we can see how it is today.
If you want diehard fans, the Bruins take the cake. In the '80s it became obvious the ownership was not really trying to win, in the '90s* they lost a NHL season. They stayed.
I think that is painfully stupid, but it is die hard. The Red Sox always tried.
*Was the NHL lockout in the '90s? I'm not a hockey fan.
Anyone want to mention Foxboro sellouts since Parcells. (1992, I think, but it may be 1991 or 1993. Someone will correct me.)
NEEDLE!!
