Imagine for a moment....
Your dream is to play football as a QB. And you are pretty good. You play in high school, do well enough to get a scholarship, but when you get there someone else is slightly better than you. So you are asked each and every week to go to practice and watch. They don't let you throw the ball you just watch. And you are told to watch carefully to each and every play because there is an outside chance you might need to go out there and do it in a game. And you do it for four years.
Then you go the pros. But once again there is someone else who is better than you. So you are asked each and every week to go to practice and watch. They don't let you throw the ball you just watch. And you are told to watch carefully to each and every play because there is an outside chance you might need to go out there and do it in a game. And you do it for three years.
Would you have gotten frustrated?
Do you think after awhile you might just give up? I don't mean quit the team, I mean sometimes instead learning the play, you day dream. Cause it doesn't matter you ain't gonna play you are just gonna hold clip board anyway. You think after 7 years of watching your intensity might fade?
Well, I know if it was me. My intensity would have faded. And I would have daydreamed. And when my number was called I wouldn't have been ready.
But not Matt Cassel. He had paid attention. And although he hadn't been the one taking the snaps. He was ready. And he connected to Moss. And he connected to Wes.
And that is what he brings to a game he expect to carry a clip board for. Just image what he will bring to a game he is starting.
