Gronk needs an off-season chaperone

As others have said Gronk doesn't have to act like a choir boy but this party animal stuff is getting a little old. He needs to be mature enough to realize that he is a multi million dollar investment employed by a billion dollar business. The fact that Gronk is a great person does not justify this stupidity. I'd feel the same way if Brady was stage diving into mosh pits.

He's 23.................."he's not a kid anymore".

If I was 23 and someone stuck 8 digits in my bank account....i'd be in vegas doing something like that

Thanks Mo, but sometimes it's compelling to see someone else's diluted thoughts and try to be patient and help them understand.

It's just my nature, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt.

If he really believes that it's Belichick's fault then I'd much rather spend 5-10 minutes getting him to possibly see differently.

If that's your nature, well, then you don't understand most other people's. In this specific case, it's in that other person's best interest to take the opposite viewpoint. That's what pays off for him, not "seeing the light" and changing his stance after being educated by you.
First and foremost, people care about themSELVES.
You have to ask yourself the question,"Does it pay for this person to reject his OWN stance and come over to my side?"

No whay. He'd have to reject his prior thinking, which is not in his own best interest.
That impedes on his sense of self & personal identity.

Take of those rose colored glasses & pick up a psychology book sometime ands learn the truth about people's innermost natures.

have fun gronk....given its 2/4, people should shut the hell up about what gronk should be doing

omg thank you.. i was reading post after post waiting for someone to chime in with some basic logic and reasoning..

Hey everyone, hes 23 years old and the SB ended literally 2 days ago! He has an entire offseason to do what he wants now, to see his family, hang out with his brothers, go to parties and get drunk, etc...

Go back to your boring existence that you call a life and stop hammering on Gronk because he chooses to actually LIVE his life and be happy. He isn't breaking any laws, he isn't making it rain on strippers or driving drunk... Hes partying with some friends and being the big, goofy kid that hes always been.

Its like 7 months before the next football game, so people really need to fricken relax.. People are so self-righteous, they think because someone isn't living a drone life style where they're a slave to the corporate world and the rat race of life, that they need to "grow up" and start acting like themselves... completely boring and uninteresting individuals...

Don't ever grow up Gronk, once your arm heals and the new season starts, I'm absolutely positive you'll be deflating footballs with your Gronk spike and causing a roar from the crowd with cheers. Live your life the way you want to, don't ever let go of that kid inside of you, because life is about enjoying yourself and having fun.

People are unreal.

If you don't think that the organization itself tends to hold their players to a higher standard altogether (which isn't even the point) then I'm not sure what to tell you.

The fact remains now that this is the 2nd time in a year that he has been injured enough to effect the team negatively in the biggest stage of the season, yet he's managed to wrestle with an arm broken in 2 places, and also made the all intelligent decision of running up the wrong way escalator backwards on a broken ankle.

If that doesn't warrant concern from the front office in protecting their new multi-million dollar investment than I'm not sure what would.

He has the rare opportunity to make millions of dollars at the age of 23, but he also needs to show respect to his employers by putting the team first above brilliant decisions like wrestling with a broken arm.

It's idiotic.

Using his ankle injury to support this idea of yours that hes out of control and wreckless is laughable. His ankle was injured because Bernand Pollard hung off of him with his entire weight and bent his ankle into an L! Most people would be on crutches for weeks or months after something like that, but he CAME BACK INTO THE GAME! That is not an "injury prone" accident, that is just football.

Also, he never "broke" his ankle, that is just an exaggerated lie. Who cares if he was running up a down escalator, who hasn't done something like that at some point? You think an athlete like Gronk is phased by going up moving stairs? I do it at the gym every day on the stairmaster..im pretty sure Gronk is a world class athlete and was just fine...

I hate reading posts from people that say a player should act or do as they say. Gronk is a good guy, he never has negative press hes just being a young kid who is enjoying his life and that still is just too much for some people. Him wrestling around with his friend, WORST CASE, breaks his forearm again and sets him back what... 2 weeks? There are 7 months to go until the first game of the season... Gronk is going to be more than healed for the start of training camp.

This is HIS time, this is his offseason to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor. As long as hes not breaking the law, who is anyone to suggest he behave or do things a certain way? Maybe he values living life to the fullest. Maybe he doesn't care if some person who slaves away all day at a job and lives a very uninteresting life thinks hes "immature" and needs to "grow up." Maybe the problem is all these people who have "grown up" should have slowed down a bit and not grown up so fast. Maybe people need to stop being so judgmental towards others and how they choose to live their life, especially when it has zero impact on their own lives.

I read the article and watched the video and just /facepalmed and laughed.. Thats Gronk, hes just a big goofy kid that loves to play football and enjoy his life. Dancing drunk, body slamming his friend, running up escalators and whatever else he decides to do isn't going to interfere with his ability to play football. Hes the best there is at his position, which doesn't happen on accident... it happens because when its time to work, he works his ass off and completely and totally commits himself to his profession and his career.

The season is over, Gronk can do whatever the hell he wants.

the local cerebrals have moved on to bashing talib

People are unreal.

1. This isn't a one time deal where someone is overly scrutinized for making a bad choice. This is 2/2 on the injury front. I couldn't care less what he's doing with porn stars or whether or not he dances after they lose the SB. It's the fact that he's done at least 3 questionable things while injured now, which is the entire reason for concern.

He has 2 injuries that were FOOTBALL related. Nothing he has done on his own time has injured him or caused any sort of problems for himself or the team. You are trying to make a connection that isn't there. He injured his ankle in the AFCCG last year and he injured his forearm in the Texans game and then reinjured it in the AFCCG this year.

He is 0/0 with non football related injuries.

2. After watching the ESPN special on Gronkowski, I came away with the feeling that the club had indeed talked to him last year and told him to tone it down and make better choices. I think that Gronk strongly hinted at this. If this is true then he has now possibly ignored that talk, which is also a concern.

The team spoke to him because of the porn star thing. They spoke to him to remind him that he always represents the team, so posing with a porn star with his shirt off is obviously going to get press on the internet and that he needs to be mindful of that stuff.

Really the only reason people even care is because TMZ and people like them chase these guys around all over the place to get a picture of every single thing that they're doing.. then they write an article and tons of people run to the shelves to read about what someone else is doing with their lives, then proceed to comment and pass judgement.

Personally, I hope he boinked the heck out of that porn star repeatedly on the way to his next party. Hes young and rich, he has every right to try and enjoy his life the way that HE feels he should. What other people think doesn't matter one little tiny bit, except for Kraft and Belichick.

I don't care. He shouldn't be clubbing and drinking alcohol like he just turned 21.

Why not? Because YOU say so? Its his offseason, he can do whatever the hell he wants to have fun. They only get a small window in the offseason to do what they want before they have to go back into the daily grind to prepare for the next season.

Just because YOU wouldn't go clubbing with friends and drinking, doesn't mean that Gronk shouldn't. Maybe thats how he enjoys his time with friends, going out and unwinding, having a good time.

You sound like a Justin Beiber tween worshipper. No one is saying that Gronk has to live like a monk. In every sport there are conditions and expectations about pro athletes and their respective contracts. Gronk can party, drink and bang chicks all he wants. Gronk can't or at least realize he shouldn't risk further injuring an arm that had two very recent surgeries. If he gets further injured doing something dumb like wrestling with a still healing arm it has the potential to affect the success of his employer. Careless actions have consequences...it's not all about him when it comes to making reckless choices.

Translation: The people who expect Gronk not to wrestle with his season ending injured /twice surgically repaired arm are unhip.

You don't have to wrestle like Jethro Clampett to have fun. As stated Gronk can party all he wants but you need to stop treating him like a child who is incapable of making a wise choice. BTW he won't be spiking anything if he injures that arm again.

People are unreal.

Yeah people are unreal for expecting someone to make reasonable choices about actions that could negatively affect their career or the success of their employer.

The next injury Gronk sustains will be the one that gives this organization serious pause considering their investment in him. Before the TE's the last young player they invested this kind of money in early earned it sleeping on the sofa in Bill's office all off season. Hernandez seems to have gotten the message. When an organization invests millions in you they have a reasonable expectation you will work tirelessly to earn it. Lest they are tempted to begin the process of weighing sunk cost against a better investment strategy in a league where nothing past guaranteed money is and your value is measured in both production and ability to remain on the field.

He got the 4 x 4 deal for a reason. $4.5M per in the first 4 and $9.25M in the last 4... 1 year down 3 to go before his big money kicks in.

I think what Gronk lacks is a good woman to slow his juvenile act down.

The old saying goes...behind every successful man lies a woman.

He needs just one good one,not three hundred.

Hes 23, he doesn't need to ruin his life yet by getting married. I think getting married in your 20's is a mistake, but at 23 hes way too young to be settling down with 1 person for the rest of his life. He needs to get out there and date, have fun, be crazy and wild, then maybe when hes a bit older he'll want to settle down and make some babies.

The media makes me absolutely SICK. This is blown WAY out of proportion. Unbelievable.

The one thing I question is why is Gronk always dancing alone (or with other guys) without his shirt on? Why isn't he dancing with girls?

But seriously, this is way overblown. I'm sure that many NFL players throughout the years have spent many a night partying at nightclubs, the difference is that now everybody has a camera on their cellphone to tape it and put on the internet for all to see. Gronks just gotta be a bit smarter and realize if he's dancing on stage without a shirt on that he's gonna be filmed and everyone will see it. Go the nightclub, have a good time, but keep it low key.

Yeah people are unreal for expecting someone to make reasonable choices about actions that could negatively affect their career or the success of their employer.

Reference 1 single event where Gronk was partying or doing something that caused him injury that affected his professional career. He hasn't, yet people are persecuting him for drinking and having a good time with his friend. He lifted his friend with his good arm, hes a behemoth and that is an effortless action for someone of his size and strength. The casts they put on broken bones are hard as a rock, so him falling to the ground, even if it smacked against something, wouldn't do anything to his arm, there just isn't enough force to break through that cast and cause a significant impact on the bone.

Again, he wasn't doing this during the season. The season is OVER. They don't play a game for 7 months, he could go break his other forearm tomorrow and would still be 110% for training camp. People are blowing something so silly and dumb out of proportion.. Gee what else is new with our society and culture these days? Blowing things out of proportion? NAHHH, we would never do that!

I just don't understand the outrage.

Correct me if i'm wrong, he didn't get arrested, didn't kill someone, didn't sexually assault a female but was in Vegas with his brothers and someone happened to be filming him having a good time.

Until any of the above happens it's a non issue. He's got 4-5 months to live his life and then it's football time. Never heard of any of these stories this season. Because he was focused 100 percent on football.
Just such a non-story.

And to say he landed on his broken arm is weak. The playoff game was him landing him on his arm. This was him landing on the ground and his arm touching the ground.

So if people are gonna freak about that then they better hope he doesn't fall at any point from now until he is completely 100 percent healthy

mazz almost tried to blame him missing the playoffs this year and the SB last year on his partying, but caught himself and changed it to that it could effect him down the road.

If I had the time and could get through I would call and say how come you guys don't talk about how Gronk is 100 percent committed to football from the time training camp starts and the last game but the minute a video pops up of him partying in the off-season it's a huge deal?

We live in an era of micromanagement, ubiquitous camera work, and the percentage of people who need to feel moments of moral superiority shooting through the roof. You'll be getting a lot more of this sort of stuff, not less.

Do your part. Ignore it.

LOL.......and the moment that happens, 31 other teams line up.......and gronk will likely get paid even more

the most ignorant move of gronk's career with the pats was with the coaches using someone who is so important to the offense out there on special teams at the end of a blowout. nothing gronk has done equates to this level of stupidity....he's so damned critical to the offense and has been given a big contract, let's put him out on special teams when we're up 35......

I have one question......who did that job on special teams when gronk was out? and why wasn't he in there then?

you 'cerebrals' are funny

Don't be so hard on the gronk ya'll. It's what he does. Pats lose, gronk is injured, gronk parties.
