If you don't think that the organization itself tends to hold their players to a higher standard altogether (which isn't even the point) then I'm not sure what to tell you.
The fact remains now that this is the 2nd time in a year that he has been injured enough to effect the team negatively in the biggest stage of the season, yet he's managed to wrestle with an arm broken in 2 places, and also made the all intelligent decision of running up the wrong way escalator backwards on a broken ankle.
If that doesn't warrant concern from the front office in protecting their new multi-million dollar investment than I'm not sure what would.
He has the rare opportunity to make millions of dollars at the age of 23, but he also needs to show respect to his employers by putting the team first above brilliant decisions like wrestling with a broken arm.
It's idiotic.
Using his ankle injury to support this idea of yours that hes out of control and wreckless is laughable. His ankle was injured because Bernand Pollard hung off of him with his entire weight and bent his ankle into an L! Most people would be on crutches for weeks or months after something like that, but he CAME BACK INTO THE GAME! That is not an "injury prone" accident, that is just football.
Also, he never "broke" his ankle, that is just an exaggerated lie. Who cares if he was running up a down escalator, who hasn't done something like that at some point? You think an athlete like Gronk is phased by going up moving stairs? I do it at the gym every day on the stairmaster..im pretty sure Gronk is a world class athlete and was just fine...
I hate reading posts from people that say a player should act or do as they say. Gronk is a good guy, he never has negative press hes just being a young kid who is enjoying his life and that still is just too much for some people. Him wrestling around with his friend, WORST CASE, breaks his forearm again and sets him back what... 2 weeks? There are 7 months to go until the first game of the season... Gronk is going to be more than healed for the start of training camp.
This is HIS time, this is his offseason to relax and enjoy the fruits of his labor. As long as hes not breaking the law, who is anyone to suggest he behave or do things a certain way? Maybe he values living life to the fullest. Maybe he doesn't care if some person who slaves away all day at a job and lives a very uninteresting life thinks hes "immature" and needs to "grow up." Maybe the problem is all these people who have "grown up" should have slowed down a bit and not grown up so fast. Maybe people need to stop being so judgmental towards others and how they choose to live their life, especially when it has zero impact on their own lives.
I read the article and watched the video and just /facepalmed and laughed.. Thats Gronk, hes just a big goofy kid that loves to play football and enjoy his life. Dancing drunk, body slamming his friend, running up escalators and whatever else he decides to do isn't going to interfere with his ability to play football. Hes the best there is at his position, which doesn't happen on accident... it happens because when its time to work, he works his ass off and completely and totally commits himself to his profession and his career.
The season is over, Gronk can do whatever the hell he wants.
