    From Pro Football Talk:

Instead of a second for Welker why not a second for Wilford. The guy is huge (6'4", 220), had 7 TD's two years ago and 2 TD's this past year catching passes from two mediocre QB's in a conservative offense.

I'm just not sure Wilford has the skill set that does well in our offense. I like him but it's easier to envision Welker excelling than Wilford - not to mention that Welker does more stuff on special teams.

I would take Wilford over Welker in terms of receiving.

Welker is really good recieving kickoffs and punts. But is he worth a second round pick? I'm not really feeling it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it say that it would cost a 4th round pick for Wilford? If that's the case, then I wouldn't hesitate according to his size and numbers. Does anyone know anything about his attitude, work ethic, etc. In other words, would he be a good fit as a Patriot?

I don't think the Pats are in the mood for any type of unknown/lesser known players this off season. They seem to be targeting well known quantities to ensure they don't have the Starks and Gabriel fiascos this year.

The top part is a correction to the original story and it says he was tendered at the second-round level.

I've seen him play and he's got an attitude, a good attitude. He goes out and gets the ball and isn't afraid of contact. On one play his helmet popped off because of a hard hit while diving for the end zone and he still made it in. He didn't turtle like most receivers would.

Wilford had 36 catches last year. Welker had 67.

I have seen him a little bit too and I think he is someone who could devolope into a real good reciever. I posted the question prior to his tendering and most people feared he wouldnt fit in our system. I think he is worth a shot and Ild rather him than welker but it is more risky because welker seems a good fit for us. so basicly I am saying I would be happy with either.

I would still take Wilford. More upside.

I'd prefer the scrappy, quick, versatile, and proven guy.

Oh WOW he's a big receiver, and we know how well we've done over the past few years with big receivers.

If were talking about potential then that isn't totally relevant. Reggie Williams and Matt Jones got priority over Wilford because they are first round picks but I think most Jacksonville fans would tell you Wilford was the teams most consistent receiver.
