thats our short, medium, long formation.
I saw them line up in shotgun for the kickoff one time befor the refs alerted them.
In the end, some games depend on being effective on short yardage (3rd and short, 4th and short). We have no fullback. I guess we could us Vollmer.
Wes Welker, short medium - Randy Moss, medium long.
Seems that you are somewhat upset that we did not sign Heath Evans or someone comparable... this is about the 4th thread that you have started all about the lack of short game or the lack of protection for Brady. The belief that a FB could cure our current O ills is really not known..
Would a FB made a difference last week?? Do not really know as we used a lot of different sets.. the week before we went with 6 O lineman with Light as Tackle Eligible..
I really do not believe that right now, many of us have a true barometer of this Offense and its capabilities.. also obvious that we were "rop-a-doped" in game 3, when Brady and Moss liked like the "old days"..
Do not know why BB did not pick up a FB, but he didn't.. really do not know what our short yardage game plan is, the body of evidence is really too small along with the plethora of passes to tell right now.. Morris and BJGE may be options.

I'm 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% sure that having a Sam Gash type of fullback would make a big difference in both the short yardage game and the running game in general. I'd expect that Belichick would agree with that assessment. He's simply chosen to go down another path with this team.
If you look at what Belichick has been doing with this team since 2006, I think you'll find it fascinating. He's completely transforming the style of play on both sides of the ball. I think he's gone too far with it in some instances, but it's been a pretty wild thing to watch.

How can Prescott Burgess or Lockett be more valuable to the 53 or the active roster than a fullback who can play special teams?

Want a defining statistic on the Patriots? They have had two chances to pick up a first down in short-yardage situations -- on the opening drive versus the Bills (fourth-and-1) and in Week 2 against the Jets midway through the third quarter (third-and-1). They attempted to run the ball both times, and both attempts were unsuccessful. The ability to pick up one yard can define your season and indicate how tough you are. The Patriots must start to convert these short-yardage situations.

Short-yardage offense? I don't think that Bill, BOB, Tom or the OL know what that means any more.
So do you believe it BB's intent to do this all along (that this is an optimal endstate) or did he feel driven to do this as a result of the Polian rules manipulations??? (nfl 'points of emphasis' each season seemingly targeted toward the patriots style of play)
Right now, the Patriots have neither a consistent short or long yardage
offense. If Welker and Moss do not play on Sunday, they may have no
offense whatsoever. I cringe at the though of Galloway being the #1
wide receiver.
