OK Numbers Junkies, how do you feel about the way CHFF measures stats?

I kind of like it. I think Division wins could factor a bit more, but overall it's neat to see the trends.

According to this we're #6 on their bendability index. Same as last year.

Cold, Hard Football Facts.com: Bendability Index through Week 9

    Explanation can be found here:
Cold, Hard Football Facts.com: The importance of Bendability & Scoreability

    Excerpt:
So what do you guys make of these stats? I think they're really interesting and show a pretty good picture of where our boys are at in terms of playing as team.

Related to this Sunday's match-up, you'll find the Bills way down the list at number 21.

Spookily, you'll see the Dolphins right behind us at #7.

CHFF made me feel better about that by saying this:
I'm mostly rooting for a win for us tomorrow, but you can bet your monkey's uncle I'm rooting for losses for the Jets and Dolphins. And if any two teams can throw away games they should easily win, it's those guys.

Fins should have a walk in the park tomorrow. Seahawks are
nothing more than an intensive care unit.
They have more injuries than Baghdad Emergency Room.

Miami will win easily, the Jets could very well lose if Favre tries to force a few in a pretty good Rams secondary. The Patriots SHOULD win. Miami is the biggest threat to the Patriots in the division.

    No Jersey Selected

I dunno. I can very easily see Miami dropping the game to the Seahawks. Miami is winning some games this year, but they haven't gotten the attitude to go with it yet. They are c@cky, and strutting like a puffed up old rooster when they should be chewing a little humble pie.

The football gods don't like arrogance, and if any team can fall for a trap game, it's Miami just now.

Gunsy, you guys really cling to that. Enjoy it. In about 17 hours it will be a forgotten dream of what could have been, but will never be.

For all that you have going for you, Favre and Mangina are the Jets most fearsome foes.

My mother is a saint, thanks for reminding me I need to pop in on her.

If the season ended today the Jets would win the AFCE vis a vis they have the best divisional record.

I will cling to it, it's been 5 freaking years since the Jets have been in front of the Pats.

Nothing last for ever, enjoy while you can.:)

I don't think you could determine it because all tied teams have not
played the same number of division games.

Ummm.... your link shows the 2-1 Jets over the 1-1 Patriots. Clearly there is something wrong with that because for one, we're in week 10 of the season, also the Patriots weren't 1-1 at any point in this season...

If you look at the real division standings, it has it done in alphabetical order, with the Bills in first place:

    NFL Standings: Division

EDIT: And according to ESPN, the first tie-breaker for Division ties is head-to-head record. The Pats are 1-0 against the Jets so far this season. Looks like the Jets are actually in second place.... How sad

The first tie-break is head to head record. You would make it over the Bills, Pats would make it over the Jets (and after tomorrow, the Bills too).

It is to early in the season for head to head to come into play, because not all teaams have played each other.
If the season ended today then you would have to go by div. record.

It's not much but the Jets are in front of the AFCE as of tonight, per NFL.com.

Why is your link showing the 2-1 Jets ahead of the 1-1 Patriots?? I don't get what you mean by NFL.com showing the the Jets are in front of the Pats. If anything NFL.com is showing the Bills ahead of the Pats because they just do it in alphabetical order...

My link is showing the Division standings only, OK.

The Jets are 2-1, Pats 1-1, Bills 0-2 and the Fish 2-1 within there division (AFCE).
Now factor in that the Bills, Pats and J E T S JETS JETS are all tied with the same over all season record,,,,, Then to determine the leader in the division, you have to go best division record because the Pat and Bills have not played yet, and thus head to head does not work.

Jeez you guy's cant even give a Jet fan a week!

I don't buy this bendability index. The Steelers and the Ravens have allowed the lowest yards and the lowest points, and they are in the middle of the pack, unless they would be in the unbendable index.
