Given the fact that Tom Brady took a physical beating in the Super Bowl, I don't think it would be a great surprise to draft a QB, for insurance purposes.

But if you're the Pats, and Brohm is still on the board at the end of round 2 or perhaps at the top of round 3, do you take him?

That's just not realistic, imo. He's an early-mid 2nd, imo. And there are other positions on the roster that need to be addressed. Eric Ainge might be a guy for us to look at in the mid-later rounds if we're thinking about bringing in another backup Q.

Brian Brohm will most likely be a Raven so I just don't see this happening.

That doesn't answer the question. It just dismisses it.

No. We have a QB who's been on the roster 3-4 years. We have another QB who's going into his second year. They weren't kept because they were incompetent. If we need a backup QB we shold sign a veteran cheap and not face having to put a rookie in.

Sorry, didn't know it was a required field to answer the question. Simply put: no. We have two quality back-ups in Cassell and Guiterriez (sp?).

Just trying to be realistic. We're picking near the very end of the 2nd round. And Im saying there is absolutely no way Brohm lasts to pick 62, and moving up to acquire him earlier than that would not represent "value" considering our current QB is the league's best player. jmho.

In fact, some team may quite possibly move up into the late 1st to grab him. Atlanta, KC, the Jets, Baltimore are all teams that would logically be looking at him.

Ok, but if Dorsey fell to the bottom of the third round, would you draft him?

I heard that if Chad Henne is still on the board at the start of round 2 the Dolphins QUICKLY scoop him up and reunite him with his blocker Jake Long. - I would bet on it.

The only QB I see NE looking at is Brennan in the late rounds,Woodson would be a longshot but he may last till round 4

You talkin' 'bout long snapper Charlie Dorsey, I presume? Sure, if he's there we're on him.

Brennan's got a weak arm, and he's spent too much time taking snaps out of the shotgun in a flukey offense. let some scrub team take him.

I don't believe it is completely unrealistic. Consider that he already doesn't get the respect of Ryan. Henne and Flacco are getting just as much play as the second best - if not more - than he is. If only one QB goes in round one, or if it is Flacco or Henne that a team moves up for, somebody could be in for a short slide to round 3, much the way Chris Simms did on draft day.

How is it great value to draft a guy in round 2 or early round 3 (ignoring the fact that he won't even be there for us to pick) who will not even see the field except in garbage time?

Brady is 30 years old and coming off the best year of his career...we've got a couple more years before we should consider a scenario like this. It's not like we'll never see another QB talent like Brian Brohm, either. We'll find a similar or better talent each draft and it'll make sense to go down this route in maybe 3 years.

If Brady's view of his career is accurate, his full-time replacement should be starting his freshman or sophomore year of high school this fall.

How do you figure that a guy who will sit on the bench for five years would be great value? The Pats could have had Carson Palmer or Ben Rothliesberger on the bench instead of Cassel and it wouldn't have made a difference. Cripes, they could have had Pats1 as their backup QB for all the difference it would have made ... Well, okay, if Pats1 were backup QB he'd have lobbied to keep Patrick Pass and we wouldn't have Sammy Morris. But still, my point stands: you don't want to waste a second round pick on a QB when you have Brady.

If Brady gets hurt, Pats will sign the best FA QB available or trade for one.

The solution to your QB getting beat up is not to supply multiple QBs and let them get beat up one by one. You solve the protection issues.

That's why the only teams who pick QBs in the first two rounds are teams that need starting QBs, and not teams like the Pats, Colts, etc.

Stop making useless threads. Time and time again you have demonstrated you know nothing about the NFL draft. Brohm doesn't have a snowflakes chance in hell of dropping to the end of the second round. I wish I could bet 2 cents against you for every stupid claim you have made over the past couple weeks. I would have at least a couple of dollars by the end of the draft which is plenty for me to buy a celebratory beer.
