Let's not forget, the Falcons game swung at the end of the half on a red zone turnover, and in a very similar spot, Bodden got the pick today.

Not taking away too much from the D, they've done well enough all things considered, but BB always talks about games coming down to just a handful of plays, and I can't help but think in the Atlanta & Baltimore games, the Pats D came up huge in these spots and really helped to swing the game.

Granted a whole half of game was played regardless of these TOs, but certainly these two single plays have helped to shape the start of the Pats season. (This is both good & bad ...)

Just a reminder of what a fine line it is when you trot out the bend-but-don't-break D ....

I dunno, but I do know that they're a couple of red zone brain farts away from being a comfortable 4-0.

Never understood this logic, every team that has had close games is a few somethings away from having a losing record. I must have missed the part where forcing turnovers isn't a legitimate part of football.

We could be 4-0, we could be 0-4 too (Falcons game could have turned out alot different without Turner's fumble and some penalties on ATL's 3rd quarter drive).

But yeah right now I think we are pretty fortunate to be 3-1. One game at a time let's just do our best to keep winning.

Honestly, your post seems idiotic and my guess is you're not an idiot. I'll ask you this one: Are the Pats one pass from Brady to Edelman for a TD against the Jets from being 4-0? Come on...bring more than that BS to the table. Is your name Gary Tanguay (aka Chief Dark Coud)?

Wow, sorry, my thread wasn't mean to be a glass-half-full-this-D-really-sucks type of thing. Don't think I expressed myself well.

I was more pointing out how fine a line it is from winning and losing in the NFL, and had the Pats not come up with two crucial turnovers when the opposing offenses was driving down the field, they very well could be 1-3.

Again, I'm happy with how the Mayo-less team is playing, I'm just interested in examining how a 60-minute game can really come down to 4-5 plays.

What if that's so. The 2003 team went the whole season winning close games, all the way to the Super Bowl. A win's a win.

The NFL is full of "fine lines". The Titans are a fine line between 13-3 and 0-4. We've managed to keep on the right side of that fine line for almost a decade.

2007 dominance cannot be expected. A lot of games are going to be close and are going to come down to a few breaks/key plays. The teams that make those plays and take advantage of those breaks are the ones that will be in the playoffs. I'm confident that we are one of those teams.

I didn't see any problem with your post. Just alot of sensitive people here I guess. It is a valid point the Buffalo and Baltimore games could EASILY have been losses. A win is a win though so I'll take it like that any day.

Surprised you didn't also bring up McKelvin's fumble in the Bills game. We could be 0-4. Or one completion in the red zone against the Jets and we're 4-0.

We've played 2 division games and 2 of last year's play-off teams. We're going to play some more close games. It has nothing to do with the style of the defense.

:agree: when we get the Red Zone Offense down Pat we will be dangerous.

I didn't say it was a bad thing. (And sorry if I made some posters spill your Kool Aid all over your keyboards .....)

And yes, you're right, we won SBs being on the right side of that fine line, and I'd welcome a return to those days. I'm not being negative, just pointing out reality that this team has played some close games that could have gone either way on a handful of plays. That's what makes football great.

And yes, as someone else paraphrased the Tuna, you are what your record says you are. Thankfully, it says the Pats are 3-1. :)

    I can better you

    1) Are pats brady 1 hop from season end - Suggs dive at brady feet

    2) Are Pats 1 blown block by OL from season ending injury

    3) Are pats defence or offence playing a difference between winning and lossing.

Repeat Herm Edwards ... we play to win the game . Yuck!!!

Their was 120 Plays and your logic that only these 2 plays can change the game is crazy. The other 118 plays do make a difference. You do not think so ?

Guys - the franchise is also 3 missed field goals away from being 0 and 5 in superbowl appearances.

Actually, I think they're 3 missed field goals away from being 0-2 and tied in the three other Superbowls.

Interestingly enough, I was only 11 plays away from winning my Tecmo Superbowl tournament in high school.
