Chandler Jones Traded

Who knows a second could still do the trick though but we would have to know if he is reinstated have a serious talk with him and have him speak with Tom.

Its alot of variables high risk but so was Moss and Dillon
No, neither of them we're facing a year's suspension. Neither of them we're really facing anything other than possibly underperforming.

would of been robbery..gordon and the 2nd rounder?

we couldnt just trade jones for arizona's 1st?

I've thought the same in exchange for Wilkerson. But it's just not realistic.

Think most would agree Wilk is a better player than Jones, but he'll also cost much more. So they're somewhat equal for this sitation.

1st round picks are "huge" deals. Potential game changers on rookie pay scales. Teams won't usually sacrifice that chance for a good/great player who will eat up a ton of money immediately or the next season.

Didn't ignore it at all. It was just nonsensical.

Ahh.... So you don't understand value, then. That explains a lot about your complaints.

It's obvious you jumped into a conversation with total lack of awareness.

The previous poster said it was worth it to get rid of Jones now for a 2nd.

I responded you could have kept him an extra year and gotten a 3rd two years later.

The argument and logic here is obvious to all but the clueless.

One year of Jones is worth the 2 year wait for a pick a round later.

How could you have possibly missed that?

Me too, in a heartbeat. Cooper's been a borderline bust and Gordon's been a superstar, despite his foibles. But it's also possible Gordon wasn't involved, or if he was then a 2nd round pick was not involved.
We never learn here about prematurely declaring people busts. He missed his rookie year with a -broken leg- and yes, he got benched last year in what was, for all intents and purposes, his rookie year. He was also supposedly dealing with a knee issue at the time.

I know both Scar and the Pats had him rated very highly the year of the draft.

Cap space to sign more TEs? I can't believe the comp was so low.

Consider that it's also the timing of the picks that count...2nd in 2016 versus 3rd in 2018. In addition, teh NEP picked up a Guard.

So I wonder if there will an accompanying BB press release commenting offering flowery thoughts on Jones?

I ask this as in absence of one would possibly indicate a potential lack of regard for the player.

Cooper is a very good athlete who needs to hit the weight room and toughen up a bit. So this is really a late 2 and $5m in cap room for Jones, who had fewer sacks per play than Sheard. Of course, he was double-teamed on pass plays a lot and frequently drew the opposing team's best pass rusher.

I think we have to see how the rest of the offseason and the draft play out before we can assess this deal.
I love the way you make the guy who was the #7 pick in the draft two seasons ago completely disappear.

I haven't missed anything. You are missing it.

The Patriots will be using the pick in this year's draft (2016)
The comp pick for Jones won't come until 2018.
It's a 2 year difference

That's such a false statement. Jones was never doubled.

Easley, Sheard, Collins, Hightower all produced more pressure than Jones

Jones was doubled plenty.. Claiming otherwise is a lie.

He disappeared all by himself. Let's hope the Dante and the change of scenery can make him into a good OL. :)

A bit unsure about the deal. Hope Cooper can produce and somebody good falls to us at that spot (or we can package a deal in the draft to move up for somebody good). My demand for a Jones trade has always been somebody who can contribute immediately. So really hope Cooper and/or the draft pick can contribute immediately. You know what Jones would give you, you don't know what Cooper and the draft pick will give you.

Now I hope that we can get a deal done with Chris Long. I don't want to rely on only Sheard, an aging Nink and two second-year players who have yet to show that they belong in this league at DE.
