Vollmer has ankle sprain

Wow, great news. Looked worse, I'll gladly take anything that potentially gets him back on the field in the playoffs.

First Gronk, now Vollmer.

When our guys get carted off it seems the injuries are not serious.

The injuries that cause us more issues is when the player leaves the field under his own power or where no one even saw the player in distress.

Next week we can make a Predict the Injury contest, special edition. Seems like every game at least one top player goes down. And since we lost yesterday we have some business to do in Miami so no rest for the wicked.

It appears the Pats dodged another bullet...

I said that before too but the only thing the Dolphins do well this season is head and knee hunt. So rest everyone that needs it and play those that really want/need the reps. Especially if Cincy wins tonight.

Are you giving up the 1 seed then?

I don't know whether this is purely bad luck or a symptom of an early bye week this season or exhaustion from being a defending Superbowl champ or some combination thereof, but it seems like we're getting at least two major injuries per game lately.

I put 100% faith in the coaching staff knowing how best to manage the team but it's looking more important to have a rested, healthy team in the playoffs than a #1 vs. #2 seed.

The Ravens backed into the playoffs last year and they were arguably our toughest post season game so "momentum" may be highly overrated.

If need be. This team is not repeating if it doesn't have a chance to get healthy. Brady is also on the verge of getting killed without a quick outlet. He's take some vicious shots over the last 3-4 weeks.

Hate to say it but its somewhat fortunate that Wake is out for rest of year for Dolphins.. did not want to face him with our OT situation

I'd be surprised for a divisional return. Getting carted off the field is more than just a little twinge. I hope i'm wrong but i'd guess AFCCG is a long shot, likely SB return at less than 100%.

Gronk got carted and was back in 2 weeks.

If we pull this off--and take the Lombardi again--we will make the strongest case EVER for GOAT SB team.

Gronk had more pain from a bone bruise than a torn acl. Some things hurt more even if the damage is less sometimes.

Just to recount things from Gronk's high ankle sprain way back when, a high ankle sprain can actually be a break, a fracture, that requires 4 weeks to heal.

Vollmer could very well only be back for the Super Bowl, if they even make it that far.

I think Ian will ban me if I make a Who Will Be Injured poll and list the starters

Did Gronk break bones on that? Thought it was "just" torn tendons and ligs?

As I recall, a high ankle sprain could involve a hairline fracture. Apparently in an area of the two bones, tibia and fibula, where they come together with the ankle. In other words, the tendons and ligaments there cover the fracture.

A tackle can deal with an ankle injury much better than a receiver

Absolutely. Dealing with speed rushers might be an issue but he has 3 weeks. Just gotta hope they have enough duct tape around.
