Brandon LaFell

Hard hands, lazy route runner, no top end speed....exactly what he was in Carolina: a JAG.
A JAG that caught a TD in the divisional round against Baltimore and in the SB against Seattle. Both games decided by less than 7 points. The guy came back from a foot injury mid season, is clearly not 100% health wise and has no Rhythm from lack of an offseason and reps.

He quit on so many routes all game long.. that last bomb from Brady would have connected if he just ran it full speed and not quit

Here is what it comes down to, in my opinion, for opposing defenses to scheme against:

Gronkowski + Edelman + Lewis + LaFell + Amendola

versus

LaFell + Amendola + Martin + Bolden/White + Chandler

And then we wonder why LaFell is less effective?

Post-Injury he hasn't even remotely been the same. IDK what happened or why but I agree with the assessments that he is no more than a, serviceable at best, 3rd WR. He just seems lazy and riding off of last years success rather than building off of it. I can now see why a "WR desperate" Carolina gave him up in the offseason before 2014.

Looks like we could infuse some new blood. The supporting cast behind Edelman and Amendola are not getting it done and Brady is making bad throws and getting killed by DB's jumping broken routes from this group.

Lets see what LaFell can offer in the playoffs before we totally give up on him because Amendola was basically in his shoes at this time last year.

Unfortunately I think you might be right. Amendola is definitely better, Martin might be as well.
Do you know how many threads there have been on this board in the past 2 seasons saying basically the same thing about Amendola? Personally, I learned from my mistakes...

According to this board Edelman, Amendola, and LaFell have all been a JAG at some point in the past 5 seasons.

Not sure why everyone is dumping on Lafell. This loss is not on him alone. This was a total failure by all 3 parts of the team, especially the special teams. The coaching staff also made mistakes. The Pats played like **** and deserved to lose, period. Trying to find a scapegoat is nonsense.

Somebody queue the Emmanuel Sanders thread!!

How many games was LaFell terrible in at the beginning of last season?

How many games has he suited up for so far this season?

The Tuesday morning meeting will be sheer hell for this team.

Losing two games in a row is unacceptable in this organization.

Lafell hasn't shown anything beyond a #3 WR right now. He needs to step up while all of the bigger weapons are recovering from injuries.

I'll wait to reserve my judgement until after the playoffs. He may be still hurting as someone mentioned before. But that LaFell we saw out there and most of this season is not the same one we saw pre-injury. But what I will say is he is not a #1WR and can't be expected to be one either.

Regardless even if our core 3 WR are back and at full speed we need some infusion of talent behind them because we are seeing how bad it is without Edelman to draw double teams and open it up for Amendola and LaFell.......pretty vanilla and gets shutdown with man to man

Football Gods have been cruel to our team I just want them to not stay so paper thin at some positions which lead to the inevitable outcomes

ButterFingers LaFell has been a huge disappointment this year. We need to look for an outside option this off season. He's inconsistent and can't be trusted. Quitting on that deep bomb is inexcusable.

Maybe take a shot at a deep threat with the 2nd round pick.

Give LaFell a nod. Getting back from injury plus it looked like his timing was off with Brady couple of miscommunication plays. With some more time under his belt and in a line up of Gronk, JE, DA as mentioned in a post, he will be dependable again.

A JAG that caught a TD in the divisional round against Baltimore and in the SB against Seattle. Both games decided by less than 7 points. The guy came back from a foot injury mid season, is clearly not 100% health wise and has no Rhythm from lack of an offseason and reps.

Really! How many passes have it this clown in the hands and he doesn't make the catch!! FYI Receivers are suppose to catch the dam ball!!! We are 13 games in you better have a rhythm by now!!!

There were a number of deep balls that failed due to LaFell slowing down/stopping today.

And he had a key drop at the end of the game.

Lafell has a great season and helps win a super bowl, then he comes back mid season from a foot injury without training camp and is inconsistent in his first few games, and there are people that call him a JAG and want to get rid of him. Like someone mentioned, people said the same thing about amendola last year.

I think LaFell at least earned himself some time to get his timing right and get into the flow. Calling him a JAG after his performance last year is pretty reactionary and low.
