Rumor: Browns having fire sale (merged)

in order for any trade to happen we would need to have pieces of teams want.

we have no first round pick.

players that would be available amount to almost nothing, I'd say we would be willing to part with mayo, and dobson. as those are the only two "name" players teams might take a waiver on if they were cut.

Unfortunately that is true, so we can only trade mid-round picks or later for marginal talent such as Aqib Talib and Akeem Ayers. We won't be able to trade for a true talent like Trent Richardson. ;)

oh dark lord belichick hear my prayer
find a team with a tackle to spare
fit him in the online, please
and make us not into swiss cheese

do it for Tee Eff Bee
because he is the goat-to-be
bring us home a number five
to keep our dynasty alive!

I really do think we need to pick up a tackle. The Browns fire sale may or may not be the answer, but I will be a little disappointed if we fail to sign anyone at all. It seems to me like we should be (at minimum) developing some depth there prior to the playoffs. I'd love to have Thomas, but barring some miracle like that, we need a warm body that can stand at LT or RT and block stuff! I'd love to see BB sign a guy off someone else's practice squad and make them into a hero. Stranger things have happened.

Volmer and Cannon are the Tackles moving forward. There isn't a Tackle out there that BB can trade for that is gonna come in and start.

As for "make us not into swiss cheese", did you watch the last two games?

6o of 92
711 yards
6 TD
0 INT

against two DLs that were loaded with All-Pro level talent. That was with Cameron Fleming as the RT. You want to see a "swiss cheese" OL go watch the first 4 games of last year.

but... but it rhymed with please.

I wasn't making a comment on past games. It just rhymed, man. You must chill.

Are you sure? Does it say that in the rules?
Practicality. How does he pass the physical? Who will trade for a player who might be washed up and forced into retirement by a failed rehab?

DUH.

How do people not comprehend that even if Logan Ryan is serviceable as a starting CB we have absolutely noone behind him if he or Butler gets hurt. We need a corner.
Yep. People have got to accept it. Hank Poteat ain't walking through that door.

I would imagine the FO is hard at work looking for a corner. This is a team that always looks to improve on any position regardless of the situation. They just took a look at a long snapper for Gods sake. They are anal about keeping a well stocked team. What I think is the issue is just money on top of a trade scenario. Just finding a willing trade partner is tough and then striking a deal....then the whole cap thing.

The problem is that typically at this juncture teams want to get rid of their most expensive/overpaid guys and that is where the problem is. Pats are at 3ish mil in cap space. And they still need to keep a reserve around that amount so technically they have no cap space and have to generate some....which is making this even harder. And they a a little short on high picks as well which makes it even more difficult.

Hopefully by tomorrow we will have another competent CB. Or perhaps the solution is here with some sort of big nickel strategy. They have an overabundance of safeties.

Trade? If Brady plans on playing for some time yet, I wonder what return Garappolo might fetch?

That wasn't the question. Obviously it has practicality issues but has nothing to do with the fact that you CAN do it. Just like you can attempt an 80 yard field goal or have your nose tackle play QB if you want.

I'm disgusted with this post...it's a direct slap in the face of Earthwind Moreland...

Trade Mayo & Solder for Thomas. Our cap would be reduced by those salaries. Mayo isn't playing much & if you don't want to risk resigning Solder, go with Thomas.

1. Amazed at how many people missed Solder being extended thru 2017.

2. Pats would have a lot of money in dead cap space just by trading Solder. Which would mean having to subtract more players and salary to complete a Mayo/Solder for Thomas Trade.

You're also forgetting the "Vollmer can't play LT!" meme despite Vollmer playing LT and doing absolutely phenomenal
