???

We're talking about the 53 man roster, not who will be on the Active Roster for Sunday. Obviously, anyone picked up would be unlikely to be active for Game 2.

Because tomorrow is Wednesday, its probably too late for that player who is on the street to be part of the game plan for Sunday.

True. We don't know why Harper was cut. My point is that they need someone to fill either the 53 or after someone from the PS is promoted, they have a spot to fill.

I believe that is what I wrote.

Bills fans convinced Pats are signing Bryce Brown because the Pats "have so few weapons."
Oh yes... The Pats are so devoid of talent that they are falling over themselves to sign Buffalo's table scraps...

I mean come on, they only have the GOAT QB, and GOAT TE, and some Edelman guy, and some RB who smoked pot, and Buffalo's ex-starting TE, and some tiny RB who Rex doesn't know his name.

We can probably all agree that cast pales in comparison to a 4 year backup QB from
Baltimore, a TE who's had his knee drained like 6 times, a banged up RB who had his feelings hurt by Chip Kelly, and a top WR who was held to 0 touches last week. Oh and freakin Percy Harvin. No contest there. Buffalo is far superior.

How great would that be if it came out of no where and caught all the mediots by surprise. It's never going to happen, but God I'd love it. Would also like to see him get a ring with us (which would obviously mean #5).

Waiting for the other damn shoe to drop and find out who's taking his place. Let's go already.

Could be it's simply Thomkins, but Belichick doesn't want to help Rex game plan and so is waiting until the last moment (Saturday?) to add him.

Isn't that against the integrity of the game?

I don't see the need for any PS rules. Should do as you please.

To take it further, I don't see the need for a PS, make the roster 63 and keep the same number of gameday inactives. Or none.

Football is one of the most pyhsical sports on the planet, games are 60 minutes, and because of limitations some positions player wire-to-wire.

Why are rosters so limited for space when "safety is of the utmost concern"?

It's a joke.

Why? The team brings in several outside bodies every season. Or am I not getting your point?

I could be wrong but aren't MOST outside bodies mid season on the defensive side?

Set the edge/rush this gap/play XX technique seems easier to get up to speed on playcalls than being on the offensive side of the ball.

I'm not who you quoted but I personally don't see an OFFENSIVE outside body added.

I could very easily see either KT promoted or Jonas Gray brought back into the mold since he's been here for at least 2 off seasons + all of last year. Pryor has excellent physical tools but he couldn't catch on with the Browns, that paints a darker picture in my mind for him making our roster as a WR.

I really liked what Brown did in Philly but at the same time I could have ran threw those holes the year he was there. I'm not sure why Buffalo never gave him carries.

Atlanta signed Jake Long LT today.

Maybe we dropped Jonas Gray because we new were adding someone like Steven Jackson RB or Pierre Thomas RB. Both can be 4th quarter backs who can catch. I'm just guessing here. There's not a lot out there.

I'd prefer we go conservative if we make a Trade. Maybe just a flip with Harper and Thompkins, conservative, won't brake the Bank.

T/G Aboushi released by the Jets ... he's not athletic enough to be a decent NFL tackle ... better suited to play guard .... any chance Belichick is bringing him in for a look?

Especially since Harper looked way better catching the ball that Thompkins.

Agreed. Knowledge of the offensive system has got to be a major part of their decision, which would make a Pryor signing even more surprising (although I'm fully expecting it now since I've openly questioned it).

Harper definitely looked like he was at least PS worthy, in an attempt to pick up the full offensive playbook throughout the course of the season. Apparently, Belichick feels as though Thompkins may be more "immediately" ready for gameday, which coincides with the theory that we need to open up the downfield vertical threats more.

I had to read this statement very carefully, as I thought this may have been a Dikembe clone-like suggestion that Gray would now be our backup QB option behind Garappolo :)

Someone has to be signed either to the 53 or PS after someone is promoted.

It's too late for someone on the street to be on the 53 IMO.

It's got to be Kenbrell Thompkins, for reasons mentioned on this forum.

One is your theory that it's now Wednesday, with the gameplan already firmly installed for Sunday's game.

Another is the thought that we need to unclog the short/intermediate part of the defense, while stretching it vertically. A guy like Thompkins who has prior knowledge of our system is a good candidate for playing this role, considering that LaFell is on PUP.

I don't think KT unclogs anything personally, one of the rare times we disagree, Supa.

Our leading receivers last week had 97 and 24 yards, with a TE and RB in between. KT has been a serviceable receiver in the past but, he's not suddenly going to provide another dimension over Amendola that fills the LaFell void, regardless of which WR position he plays.

I don't even know if it's an advantage, but the biggest thing that I liked about KT is that he came down with contested balls at times, 2013 vs Falcons and Saints for example. Harper hasn't really played NFL talent in that aspect, so who knows.

For this specific game I might prefer to see Jonas Gray (knows the scheme) brought back since Miami released him, Bryce Brown for gamesmanship, or a FB for help on the OL front.

I don't think a WR worse than DA provides anything to the offense, against Buffalo's front 7 we need a good pass protection or quick-strike type route combination offense, the intermediate passing game doesn't generally help in this one. Might be the kind of game where TB12 wants the ball out under or around 2 seconds each snap.
