Does anyone still think the 31 other owners still love how Goodell is handling this?

Anyone know what's up with the contempt hearing next week. While it's fun to see the commishczar get lambasted, id wager the contempt of court case could be a far bigger deal in Goodells standing. Sally, help us out!

At this point, if I were an NFL owner, I'd be nervous about my investment for as long as Roger remains commissioner. Next Tuesday's meeting will be epic. What I wouldn't give for an audio tape of that.

You would probably hear audio akin to the Deep Throat movie and I don't mean All The President's Men. Kraft bent over for him and Jones and Snyder did as well so why do you think this will be anything but a love-in? Goddell ain't going anywhere. The best that cam come out of this is that the judge throws this thing out and puts it to Goddell that he can't act like Hitler/Amin/etc when dealing with the players. He might then decide to abdicate his role as arbiter if he thinks he going to get hauled into court every time he lies, which is ofter as he seems to do that every time he opens his mouth.

I think the owners will have to pressure Goodell to turn over appeals to a neutral arbitrator if so requested by the team and/or players being punished. If Goodell knows that any punishment he hands out has the chance to end up in neutral arbitration, then maybe he will be more fair to who and how he handles out punishment.

Living outside New England, let me give you the big picture here. Nobody here likes Goodell or the NFL office but they dislike the Pats more. Thanks to the camera placement fiasco in which Kraft was totally complicit, the Patriots reputation went into the toilet and has never improved. Consequently, everyone was more than willing to believe the worst about the Pats without facts and this feeling was not helped by Kraft's capitulation and forfeiture of the draft picks and money as a sign of guilt. In fact the owners and fan bases of 31 teams are overjoyed by the turn of events which improves their position. I would go as far as saying they feel that the Pats are cheaters and if the NFL played dirty to trap them that was OK. What I find most amazing is that Kraft failed to realize what a corrupt POS Goodell was from the beginning and supported him whole heartedly up until a week ago. I am still not convinced that Kraft doesn't consider Goodell the victim of his subordinates rather the leader of the corrupt enterprise. Let us see how things play out at the next owners meeting, as long as Rooney and Mara are behind him Goodell has nothing to fear and certainly not from Kraft.

I only hope that in the unwanted scenario that nothing changes, that the next team to get screwed is Indy/Bal/NYG or J/Dallas. Maybe even Pitt. Then we'll see how they like it.

I have to believe that in a room full of that many billionaire egos, somebody is going to pipe up and complain that Roger's actions are "damaging the brand and costing them $$$$" and to "make it go away" before it impacts their support for him....
If that means wiping the slate clean ( no suspension, no fine)will Roger put his tail between his legs and do it or go into the settlement talks the next day with a white flag......??
Nah, his ego is too great but I expect a leak about dissension among the owners....

Do you think Biscotti and Irsay are happy? Ross, Benson and dumb ass W. Johnson are close to seeing considerable pressure from their fanbase

I would hope some of these egomaniacs care about how stupid and corrupt the NFL looks. Its a direct reflection on them after all.

Goodell is a puppet for the owners, who broke free of his strings and has become an all out power hungry ****. The guy has made nearly half a billion dollars since these dummies created this Frankenstein monster. He's broken free of his restraints. And the owners let it happen. When he attacked a team, they backed him (Kraft included). Now it's coming back to bite them in the ass. These guys are childish, bitter losers. The Pats have dominated the league, and they don't like it. I hope this mess falls like Enron. It's downright illegal. The Jests need to be removed from the NFL executive positions. It's scandalous. They just kept pushing at any cost. It's over. The Jest lose on the field and lost at cheating

With public opinion now beginning to believe Goodell lies to media and others, the NFL has a big
credibility problem. They may have to swallow his contract and get rid of him.
It's the only way they can restore credibility. IMO

My ridiculous way out in left field fantasy is that this gets bad enough for the owners that they force Goodell out and the next comish undoes this whole thing, including the team penalties.

I just have a terrible feeling about all this :(. Given how everything has broken horribly for NE even when things have looked good I just can't shake it.

I have this awful feeling that the league will hold firm, forcing Berman to rule, and when he does he'll write an opinion that boils down to "Goodell ran a kangaroo court that he should be ashamed of and there's no real evidence Brady did anything, but the players negotiated such a crappy CBA that my hands are tied and I am forced to uphold the arbitrator's award in full. May God have mercy on your souls."

And I think that once the suspension is upheld this will -- sadly -- all blow over for Goodell. Owners that might have been on the brink of wavering on Goodell will come back to the fold -- after all, Goodell ended up winning.

Actually, even if the suspension is wiped out (whether through settlement or an outright decision against the NFL) I still think Goodell survives easily. Enough owners hate NE and enough owners care only about their short-term wallet instead of the longer-term fortunes of the league that they'll let it slide. Hell, look at Bobby Kraft going on about what an awesome job Goodell was doing after the Ray Rice thing. Same thing is gonna happen here.

I don't like any of this, but it's what I fear is going to happen.
