Seriously...why is it taking so long?

Florio mentioned deflate gate today, I'm convinced Bob Kraft was the one who insisted the league hire Ted Wells in order to get a fair shake. After the mess it tuned into the Jets cronies in the head office would have to punish the Pats so they wouldn't look bad. I think the report has the ugly truth about the jokers (no offense to our Joker) in the front office and they're trying to figure out how to deal with it.

That's what I'm hoping for. From your lips to football gods ears.

Adam Schefter was just on Mike and Mike for approximately 10-15 minutes. Questions were asked about a wide variety of topics from the draft to trades to food preferences at ball parks. Not a syllable about Deflategate. What a freaking joke...

It took Wells 3 months to do the investigation into the Dolphins bullying stuff. So, if that is an indicator of his usual pace, then we should expect a report by early May.

Except the Dolphins bullying was not nearly so clear cut as this. It involved nuance that took time to investigate and find out what had happened. This is different, this either happened or it didn't happen and we have empirical scientific proof that it didn't.

That was my first thought too, but I think this is much more complex that simply doing some experiments to show we are vindicated. Wells is looking into the ******** sting operation, the people behind that, and the people behind the ******** leaks that served to tarnish our name and distract the Patriots. My hunch is the report will be almost as long as the one on the Dolphins.

Hey, the best part of being a PatsFan is that we can all flip the bird to haters and claim "Super bowl Champs...fuggn eat it!"

I don't care if opposing teams respect us and I actually love the fact so many hate the Patriots. Nothing will change that other than many losing seasons.

May the media restore our integrity as vigorously as they tarnished it...

I know. That is naively unrealistic.

To substantiate remember the Brouhaha about BB sending about a gazillion texts to AH, and how he must have been somehow involved in that in some perverse way.. the trial ended and those gazillino texts to AH were not relevant, and no one noticed.

Remember when Borges wrote in the RS article about how BB told AH to get a "safehouse", that never came out ever..

The bottom line is the press is never held accountable for the most part, and piling on the hate is a full time gig for many..

No matter what the outcome there will be those who beg the issue, with "yea but" or other such nonsense.

Yeah I wonder why Bill Heisenberg Belichick didn't have to testify at the hearing given he was Hernandez criminal advisor and drug lord? Or so I read.

Rolling Stone has really covered itself in glory journalistically recently. The Hernandez story, the college rape case and romanticizing that scum bucket Marathon bomber. Even in my twilight years, I still enjoy their music reviews and coverage. But, in terms of literary credibility, they have none.

And don't forget the anti-vaccination pieces by nutbar RFK Jr. that Rolling Stone has published.

Also, Wells is likely waiting on the scientific analysis by the Columbia Univ. prof. They likely have nothing against NE so they have to explain the deflated footballs somehow to the public or people will say "Kraft has Goodell in his pocket, etc." A sound scientific explanation is needed so the league can save face.

The legend of the Wells report will be passed down across the generations as tribal elders speak in hushed tones to this little children gathered around.

For the most part I agree, but stopped subscribing a while ago.. they have had a few hits(McCrystal comes to mind)... they should stick to music.

The fluff piece on Hernandez, co written with Borges was crap... and now that the trial is over it has turned into whale shyt... many of the local talk show mediots ran with that story, and many questions were raised regarding the integrity of BB... they spent a lot of time speculating what all those texts must have meant. They have never seen those texts, but they ran their mouths anyways.

What I never understood that how could the claims about the safe house BB allegedly suggested be corroborated?? BB is not going to divulge that info to Ronnie.. and sure as hell he did not access to AH.

Now that I consider, longer may well be better as this is not about the Patriots.

Columbia won't have screwed this up and what we all saw from the Headsmart labs video will be confirmed. The entire question of if the Colts balls deflated is moot because Columbia will explain deflation and the patriots don't have to answer for the Colts balls. Maybe the Colts balls were mismeasured, maybe they were cold when inflated, maybe they were not measured at halftime etc... none of that matters actually.

Columbia does their job which explains deflation so the investigation goes into how this sting came to pass.

1) Looking into previous accusations against the Patriots. Nothing will come of this. There was a story about a decade ago on the news on how some folks found some tiny pitts in their windshield. After seeing the story more people went and looked on their windshields and found pits and small holes. Theories came about how a comet must have broken up and this was the result etc... but the truth came out that most windshields everywhere have pitts but people just didn't notice till the news story came out and they looked for the pitts. Balls deflate in the cold. Someone notices that the Patriots balls were deflated and assume it was the Patriots doing. Other teams check the Patriots balls and gee they are below 12.5 PSi so the Patriots must have done it. They don't check their own balls because they know they did not deflate them, nor do they test other teams because there is no reason to. The Patriots balls are the pitts in the windshield that no one notices till they look.

2) How the Colts discovered the pitts in the windshield (Patriots deflated balls), who they told and when and what the NFL did are issues Wells must investigate. This will take quite a while. Look at the different stories the Colts and NFL told right after.
a) NFL sting/not a sting/sting.
b) Colts player notices/didn't notice/equipment guy noticed
c) GM told NFL during game about ball/ GM told NFL week before game/ coach told NFL/ Colts equipment guy told/ Colts player told
d) Kensil told during game/ Kensil told before game/ Kensil investigating employee with record of stealing balls
e) NFL official steals active game ball/ another NFL official replaces stolen ball with unapproved ball/ 1st NFL official reintroduces stolen game ball back into play/ at points Patriots given Colts balls to use during play. e) overall NFL game ball security and policy issues.

If you look at all these points it is easier to understand why this is taking so long. The investigation has had interviews with at least three teams, involves multiple people inside the NFL and someone was already fired for theft. I am not worried about the Patriots in this. I think the Colts have more cause to worry but I doubt anyone will be able to prove they further deflated the intercepted ball to make their case. I think this all hits Kensil for the sting and allowing an employee with a reported history of theft to steal a game ball.

I don't blame the Colts for reporting their concern without understanding the science behind it, it was the NFL's job to handle and investigate this and they have shown themselves to be utterly incompetent. The NFL allowed a former Jets employee with a reported hatred of the Patriots to set up a sting to catch the Patriots in the act of tampering with the balls and assumed when the balls were in fact down on PSI, that he had the Patriots and then leaked this and his supporting information.

Wells was needed for this and when looking at all these points I understand why it is taking so long. This is not about if the Patriots deflated balls and has not been since the NFL backed off on claiming the NFL's investigation would be complete in 3 days.

You have GOT to be kidding. Assume whatever prof chosen was busy as hell and took say a few weeks to get around to it, his grad students could do every conceivable variation on pressure, temperature and humidity in one to two days. Writeup one day, review another. In any case it's not one week's work. Could even all be done in one good day. OK, self serving league writeup could take longer, but not much.

it took 3 months for the Incognito report. This is a much more complicated situation IMO, including interviewing patriots players, patriots staff and league staff. Add to that scientific experiments and coverup of ex-jets officials performing a sting operation, and you'll understand why it's taking so long.

No
You said Wells is waiting on the science
NOT the rest of the stuff

Roger Goodell said a few weeks ago that investigation was just about done. I knew then it meant nothing and I was right. So why did he even open his lying yap?
