Pats will not pick up Revis option this year

At 4.05 tomorrow, Revis will be trying on his Jet uniform. The Browner situation and the release
of Wilfork are not connected to Revis.

Can't wait to go to work tomorrow and be on Revis watch on my phone....just sign tonight buddy

I rather have either one of them before McCourty!

Triumph would rather have Sergio Brown than McCourty. But don't let that bother you Triumph is about as knowledgeable about player personnel moves as Britney Spears.

Huh? How does this help the Pats? I would think that would be better for Revis.
The patriots have exclusive rights for another 24 hours.

Umm. Why is this a shock? The Pats were never going to pick up the option, as almost everyone has agreed for the last week or so. This happened because of the deadline of 4 EST. This changes nothing. Revis could sign with the Pats or go elsewhere but this event is not news.

This is worse than watching the SB...well not really but kinda...

Didn't they have to pick up the option or not by 4pm today? I thought I had read that here - March 9, 4pm.

So this isn't really news, other than to end speculation that they were cutting Browner (no, they're not) to clear cap space to pick up the option.

I don't think they could have waited past 4pm today on this decision, right?

I guess none of are sure whether other teams can now legally talk to Revis. He will be a free agent, after all. Is his situation any different than Vereen?

Watch for more moves very quickly by the Pats. If Miguel is right, they're now 5 million UNDER the cap. That's not enough to get a Revis deal done. They'll need to make some adjustments quickly.

If they don't think Revis is coming back I doubt they get rid of Browner.

Browner is on a three year contract. I didn't get that there was a possibility he would go elsewhere.

teams still can't talk to him

And catching up, Patriots declining the option on Darrelle Revis essentially created a 24-hour exclusive negotiating window for the team

According to Miguel's latest numbers, the pats are $10,066,603 UNDER the cap, with a McCourty estimate included. This is enough to sign Revis with no further transactions.

This. The option was never going to be picked up. Jonathan Kraft all but said it before. We need to reach a new deal or he's gone. No surprise there.

NE can exclusively talk to Revis until 4 p.m. tomorrow.

He has an option bonus due Tuesday. They want him to restructure. They have given him
permission to test the market. His current 5 mil per year salary is a bargain for a cornerback.
The Patriots want to be free to cut him with no salary cap charge.

Revis, you do understand that leaving NE means no more chowing down at Ground Round...right...?...I mean where is the kitchen sink, we need a lockdown!
