Patriots decline option on Wilfork - Vince is a free agent

Feeling sad about this as I think Vince is a great player and an even better person. Maybe there's a chance he will sign for less if he doesn't get another more appealing offer. Good luck Vince and thanks for all your hard work!

I agree with the Colts. I think the Broncos are in play. Vince knows his window is very short. He will want to be paid, but he also wants to compete for a championship. I don't think the Giants are going to be a competitor.

EDIT: The only way I see the Broncos not in play is because they have so many other free agents to deal with themselves. But if they can get Vince relatively cheap, they definitely will be in play.

unless the broncos give him an offer he can't refuse (in which case, they would simply resign pot roast), I don't see wilfork going there for short money as he speaks fondly of his home here and will likely choose something more conducive for his home life......btw, wilfork is exactly what the giants need

EDIT: wilfork also does not necessarily match what wade phillips likes to do

Resign revis and McCourty. Are they gonna restructure mayo as well?

Grabbing two tackles or picking one up is important now.

Interested to see how this plays out. It does sound like Vince will not be back and BB wants to go in a different direction by the letter Vince left.

If that is the case I am curious to see what the plan is. Branch is now important to keep and they need another body. Even on the down side of his career Vince's ability is still pretty solid not to mention losing his leadership. That is impossible to replace.

I forgot that Phillips is the DC in Denver now. Yeah, he is more of an one-gap 3-4 type of coach. Doesn't seem to be a fit.

vince will come back on a lower deal.
i dont think he wants to move his family across the country to denver/indi

just give him a little time to cool down and he will return!

Had to happen, thanks for everything big fella. Hope you go to a non nfc rival. Fitting he has super bowl wins on the book ends of his pats career.

What a perfect storybook way for Vince to end a terrific career. SuperBowl winner as a rookie. Played every game, hit every performance incentive, and won another SuperBowl ring in his final season 12 years later. It doesn't get much better than that in the NFL!

Everybody loves Vince!

I hope vince comes back some how. Always will be a pat. Its a business indeed:(

I think he retires.

Storybook ending was VW retiring as a Pat. Since he is not, it's not a storybook ending.

I'm disappointed at both parties for not finding a way to keep the relationship going. Vince had a position (play and make money) and the Pats had a position (?).

He just said he has plenty of gas left in the tank.
He also said he is going to sit back and think about what he wants to do next, with the most important thing being his family.

The more I think about it, Browner unfortunately might be next. They wouldn't want to keep him and have to let Revis go.
Did you actually just dislike a post that I made almost a month ago just because I disliked this one? Your post was stupid. Get over it.

On to the football field, what caliber of player do we think we are losing?

Since 2011 to now, Wilfork's gone from an All-Pro to what, a solid starter?

And before everyone starts the DT panic, IMO BB likes Siliga alot. He will get a chance at replacing Vince IMO. Underrated player.

Depth is definitely a need, but I wouldn't be shocked if Siliga-Easley emerge as a solid duo.

Isn't Siliga a FA too?

Even after him twice publicly saying he intends on playing in 2015?
Twice?
Thats how I read his letter. I assume he would play in NE if offered, but I think otherwise he retires.
This was part of his statement.

I will take my time think things through, take into consideration many things but mainly my family and see where life goes from there

his letter would suggest otherwise.
Thats not how I read it. I read it as he could still play, not that he is going to. We'll see.
