Patriots interested in Vincent Jackson

I cant even believe that some of you would think twice about giving up a third rounder for Jackson. He'd EASILY be the best WR Brady's had since Moss. We aren't talking about a "learn the system" kind of player here. He's a legit stud who's talented enough to come in and make an immediate and significant impact on offense right away.

Screw next years third rounder. Some of you act like it's mortgaging the future. With the number drafted WR's we've had bust around, I'd happily give that pick up in exchange for a "win now" move.

If they keep him longer than the rest of this season, a 3rd is fine, but if he would be just a half season rental, then it would be a bad deal imo.

we don't need him.

I would prefer a defensive move instead if it's going to be a bigger splash, but that may not be a possibility.

In the meantime, as a fan I would love to have Jackson. I just don't know if the cost justifies the move, that's all.

I wouldn't care either way honestly. If it gives us a better chance to compete with Denver THIS year. Im good with worrying about that third rounder at a later date. Players Like Tom Brady don't come around very often, screw a roll of the dice third rounder. Jackson would light it up right here, right now, and that's all that matters to me at this stage in Bradys career.

for a 2nd..hell no...but i may do it for a 4th.

People really need to stop with this kind of nonsense.

the patriots are currently 4th in the league in points per game at 29.8, 2.2 points per game less then the broncos.

Unless vincent jackson is going to be come via a trade for amendola straight up, its a waste of time to even speculate on him coming to the patriots. Say jackson comes to the team, that means Lafell is no longer starting. comparing their stats this year is obvious not a good measuring stick(Lafell has brady and much better stats) so you are going to sit a player brady is really Clicking with, in order to put jackson in his place?

Seems like chemistry suicide to me.

If it is less than a 2nd why the hell wouldn't you want a guy that has averaged 17 yards a catch in his career?

Bunch of fantasy football general managers in here.

giving up anything more then a bottom round pick for a 31 year old receiver who is performing worse then the top two receivers currently on the team is madness.

When you finally start to figure out the obvious (it's not about regular season, the Patriots are currently playing only a 2WR game which is both easier to limit than a 3 WR game and vulnerable to a huge loss if one of those two WRs goes down, you upgrade wherever possible when you want to beat a team like the Broncos in the playoffs, etc....), you'll be on the path to enlightenment.

Why would LaFell have to sit? What are you even talking about?

Trade for Amendola straight up?? WHAAA?? That wouldn't even get accepted in a Fantasy Football league let alone the NFL. Amendola is another HORRIBLE WR signing by Bill he's an overpaid scrub. TB wouldn't trade us a box of cleats for him.

Reports are that the Patriots are one of four teams who've called about Jackson, so you should definitely share your wisdom with Belichick before it's too late.

Plus two TEs. I think our excess draft picks allow for upgrading the roster now but I'm not that concerned about the receiving corps right now. Now if they can get Marshawn Lynch, then I'd be very tempted by that, although it doesn't look like he's available for trade.

Yeah reports were that the patriots were going to trade brady

Also reports were that the patriots are one of the top two teams to sign ray rice

Reports have been for years that the patriots were going to trade for larry fitzgerald

I'm pretty sure I heard reports that the patriots were going to bend brady and start Garrapolo

Reports were that the jets were a superbowl contender this year.

Heard a report that Kraft was cheap this morning.

Yeaaaaaaah once i heard a report come from BB himself I'll believe it.

Why wouldn't LaFell start? Why would he have to sit? All it would do is knock Amendola down on the pecking order.

So when they go 3 WR sets you would rather have LaFell, Edelman, Amendola/Tyms instead of LaFell, Edelman, Jackson?

You can only have 11 people on the field at once.

5 o-line
1 brady
Gronk
Edlemen(slot)
Lafell(or Vjax)
Running back

Then you have the second tight end(wright/hooman), Devlin, or a third WR.

I guess it would be pretty typical to see everyone here clamoring for a shutgun only 3 Wide set after spending weeks clamoring for the patriots to run the ball more.

Your lack of football understanding continues to astound, and your choice to deliberately misstate what people were reporting demonstrates that you're still not a serious poster.

Right.

I'd post all the links to those reports, but You would just come back with one of your patented "That's a pretty strawman argument"

I bet you a week of not posting that the patriots wont trade for Vjax.

4th/5th rounder and Amendola sounds like a deal I would do. It sounds to me like they know they are going to have to rebuild and want value now.

Allows a more effective 3 WR set with Lafell & Jackson on the outside and Edelman and gronk on the inside.

Also arguably has bigger bodies out there for an efficient red zone package of Lafell, Jackson, Gronk and Wright.

Provides the deep threat we need e.t.c

I see no reason why this doesn't make sense other than... he would have to sign an extension and would we offer him the money he'd want?

I'm not on any "Got to have Jackson!" crusade, because I could certainly understand someone who'd prefer more LB, HB or DL help, for example. But, there's a difference between thinking you could use upgrades elsewhere more than what you might think Jackson would do, and bleating out inanities like "chemistry suicide" and the like.
