I doubt this ever has been attempted in a real game. Probably never will. But it would be great to see, just for the sake of watching the refs' heads explode.

BTW, the QB certainly can be an eligible receiver. He can line up behind center, go in motion and the ball can be snapped directly to a running back, who then throws to the QB.

We've seen that play before. I remember Brady catching one down the left sideline and then stepping out of bounds after he picked up the 1st down, or something to that effect. Maybe Kevin Faulk threw that pass? It's late and I'm slow remembering tonight. Sigh.

Hear ya go.......

I think Brady and Steve young have caught passes from themselves. And I'm sure I'm missing out on other QBs. It happens, but usually not of the 40+ yard variety of self-pass.

I dunno,Graps looks faster than a 4.9 to me on tape. And he just looks athletic enough 2 run a 4.75-4.8. I like the Graps selection as long as they could still have drafted a legit talent at wr. At least Marty Bryant. My real prob was rb white. We have 2 rbs n they grow from weeds. Could have selected Bryant instead of White. Makes the whole draft look better n much more complete. I mean seriously,a smallish narrow framed rb with a low ceiling instead of a talented wr with n astronomical ceiling. Marty Bryant is a super Dobson. A little raw n compared 2 Stephen Hill which is ludicrous. Hill is tighter than Bob kraft when it comes 2 n all pro free agent. Bryant is as fluid n flexible as a California wave.

I think we'll all have different opinions with the draft, so we have to trust that Belichick and Caserio will do the best they can.

I'm a little confused by your comment about the RB situation though? At the end of the year, Ridley and Vereen will both be free agents, so the drafting of a RB was a pretty obvious need. The selection of RB White was just as fine as any, not to mention the fact that we've dedicated a lot to the position of WR in the past year as it is. That's not even taking into account the fact that it's extremely difficult to pick up our system either.

JAMES WHITE

--strengths in pass protection

--strengths in ball security

--proved to pick up the offensive system during his pre-draft visit when Belichick asked him to break down film and responsibilities

--strengths in ability to run between the tackles not outside of them, showing his strength as a low to the ground back, who does not need to rely on his speed

--ability to play in our hurry up package as he can offer both run and pass catching talent

NOTE: The first 3 reasons are what likely got him drafted here

Meant light, but u probably figured that. I know Hightower ran that but he doesn't play close 2 that. I was excited over his workout #s and expected him to be more explosive. He has been picked on by broadcasters in instances he showed very limited burst and acceleration. I know what mayo did as well but he doesn't standout in coverage like Willis, bowman, david or make the splash plays they do. Mayo has been cited for racking up tackles after 5,6,8 yrd gains. Not in the class of them dudes but he is one of the better lbs. I wouldn't call High tower EXTREMELY talented yet but let's see. That's y I think he is better serving himself playing at 255 instead of 270. I mean come on 255 is still huge for a mlb, and he will b as powerful yet quicker n perhaps a wrecking machine. Many rb's looked stronger after dropping body fat due to the power they have accelerating faster thus producing more force.

He is very narrow framed, and didn't a very talented rb just sign with the browns for 6mil total. And Tate is far more talented than white. Then there's next yes draft. We need a wr this yr. I apologize if this sounds arrogant. But its fact that u draft a high ceiling wr over a low ceiling rb any day. That's common sense. Especially when you need a talented wr badly enough that your starting 2 terribly limited skill slots. Utility infielders Edelman/Amendola r guys u want bunting and trying to draw walks. You need the home run and line drive threats if you wanna score. This will become more clear when Bryant lights it up. I don't get it, maybe Bill doesn't wanna coach him up. He had that slashing gesture so what, big deal he's young. Do you want to win a championship or field choir boys.

I like James White selection, what I saw in highlights is impressive. I hope he get many snaps this season and not red shirt.

For the record, Martavis Bryant was drafted 118th overall; Jimmy White (whose selection I did not like
either, at all) was drafted 130th overall. So your beef with Bill has more to do with his drafting of Bryan Stork than of Jimmy White.

In terms of his size and the way he looks as a QB he reminds me of Brees. He's not a runner like Griffin III or Manziel but he has mobility, however his game is going to come down to smarts and accuracy, like Brady and Brees.

Ah! Correct!

Though in the case of running this play the QB needs to throw to himself - as such he'd have to get the ball back and throw to himself AFTER becoming an eligible receiver.

Where do you come up with this stuff?
Amazing you even asked. Wait for the season to start and let's see how long it takes for a wr to catch a 45 yrd pass. I suppose anybody that wears a patriot uniform is great. As far as White and Bryant let's just wait for the season to start.

I wasn't sure who was actually drafted first but I was thinking along the lines of Bryant where Stork was drafted and Stork where white got drafted. But I suppose white was upgraded to blue chip status as soon as we selected him. And the wonder twins and Lafell will suddenly become deep threats this yr just because we want them to.

I'm guessing that if he throws to himself, it should be legal as long as he's behind the line of scrimmage when he throws it and (obviously) past the line of scrimmage when he catches it. (I'd pay money to see this happen in a game.)

Looks like he QB is only eligible if another eligible receiver touches the ball

T-formation quarterback is not eligible to receive a forward pass during a play from scrimmage. Exception: T-formation quarterback becomes eligible if pass is previously touched by an eligible receiver.

I want to know what they mean specifically by T-formation. Because the only thing close to T-formation we've seen in modern pro football is the wildcat. If it isn't from T-formation, does that mean the QB can throw to himself? (Someone should ask BB that question in a press conference, then duck.)
