Re: Gresh brought up a good point last night about the refs

Oops! Didn't see the ref thread was still active. Mods, it is ok to merge with that one.

Re: Gresh brought up a good point last night about the refs

What were the bad calls against the Ravens?

They had a few. The call on Harbaugh was bad (although word was it was actually on Terrell Suggs for talking crap to the refs).

I will NOT! fault the refs in these games why? because biased Coaches and fans are tryin to intimidate them. They are calling it very close even ticky tac stuff but both teams will benefit regardless from a fair number of calls...they just have to make the most of them.

That's not NFL football, bottom line. The Ravens and Pats did not play an NFL football game last night because the Refs did not let them. Regardless of which team won neither was given a chance to win an NFL level game. Congrats to the Ravens but that was the worse officiated game for both teams that I have ever seen in my life. It was like somebody would spin a wheel to determine whether a flag would be thrown. Absolutely crazy bad for both teams. It feels like the game was fixed. I'm not upset that the Pats lost the game, I just cannot believe the game has been ruined to that degree. Regardless the Pats should be fine for the playoffs.

While I haven't liked the coaches and players trying to intimidate the officials part of their job is to call the game straight up regardless. They failed to do that last night, and that's 100% on them.

If you think the officials were calling a tight game just because of the number of flags I have a hard time thinking you watched the game. A defender punched Edleman in the head three times right in front of the official without a flag, Gronk was tackled anytime he had the LB covering him beat and never drew a call, the Ravens line was more wrestling than blocking and only picked up 1-2 calls, and that's just off the top of my head. They were inventing holds, illegal contacts, and PIs on the Pats, but that's completely different than calling a tight game. The officiating was crooked not tight.

How would you feel to be a Ref walking to your car last night in Baltimore? Probably pretty scared if they had lost. My point is we had opportunities to put the game away but couldn't beacause our Defense was raping the Ravens skilled players...all those calls gainst us was legit!

Stupid post of this week.

Watched the game on television, and it was absolutely surreal. Afterwards, I was so flummoxed by the piss-poor officiating that I was not upset that the Patriots lost to drop to 1-2.

I feel this goes much deeper, as in the compromise of the integrity and quality of the game... hitherto and going forward. And it will be impacted for all teams if these overmatched officials are to continue calling games during the lockout.

Sadly, the Patriots have been involved in back-to-back games of this nature...

Yeah right sour grapes to you...Ravens Denfense make plays when they had to....Patriot Denfense didn't nuff said!

Worst officiated game I have seen for sure.

I don't blame the replacements for sucking so bad though. It's like teachers going on strike and asking your local exterminator to fill in as a chemistry teacher. He may work with chemicals but that doesn't mean he can teach the curriculum. You can't get mad that he sucks, what do you expect out of him/her? If it was a legit officiating crew then I'd be made at the refs.

With that said, I am pissed at the regular officials and I am pissed at the NFL. They need to come to an agreement already. THEY are ruining the enjoyment of ANY of these games as the scabs are becoming the story. The game is too fast for them right now and they are not prepared (understandably).

I understand that they will likely improve as the season goes on, but I am sick of waiting now. I want the experienced, consistent, professional idiots that we already know officiating these games.

I would've felt ashamed...

Your claim that all the calls against the Pats were legit just reinforces my theory that you didn't watch the game.

This is exactly how I feel. I'm not upset the Pats lost, we all knew the Ravens at home would be tough. I'm upset that the NFL has become a laughing stock of officiating for all teams. I watch the NFL because I love watching football at its highest level. I root for the Pats but don't take their wins and losses seriously. But it blows my mind that a billion dollar product that I watch to be entertained has become a joke such that I have no idea why or when flags will be thrown. It's ruined the fun of watching and lowered the integrity of the NFL product on the field. It's that bad for all teams.

One last point - Even if the Refs got all the calls right (both ways), the outcome may very well have been the same. But the piss-poor quality of the officiating casts doubt on the integrity of what the NFL has produced. That alone is reason enough for the two sides to bang this out and get the regular guys back.

The TV money is paid so not watching will have little effect. But I wonder, what about visits to the NFL site? Buying merchandise, attending games, subscribing to NFL mobile, the coach's film etc? How about hitting them directly in the wallet where we as fans can have an effect?

I actually think the call on Harbaugh (if it was on him) was legit. He walked out on to the field and motioned for the ref saying 'I want to talk to you' and he wouldn't back off until the flag was thrown. THEN he said he was calling timeout.... If you call a timeout, you call it. You make the 'T' with your hands, you yell it, whatever, and you get the TO. Harbaugh is full of it.

Raping??? Really...obviously you actually didn't watch the game. Ticky tacky is an overstatement. There were absolutely PHANTOM calls against the pats in that game. I can't think of one phantom call against the Ravens.

And if the Refs are making calls because they are worried about the fans, then that makes it 10x worse. They shouldn't be doing the job if that is their thought process.

Re: Gresh brought up a good point last night about the refs

Yeah, I am really struggling trying to think of a Phantom call against the Ravens. If anything they could probably have had a blatant penalty called against them on almost every other play.

KILL THEM. KILL THEM ALL, STARTING WITH GOODELL. :bricks::bricks::bricks:

They called the personal foul on Ngata for diving on Brady and Harbaugh was screaming at the side judge. Right after that was the Gronk hold, Edelman OPI, and Mayo DPI which turned the entire game.

Exactly!!! That turned the entire game. It demoralized the Patriots and energized the Ravens. The Gronk call was chicken-bleep

When reading about the possible fine for BB 'for touching a ref', I can't help think that the refs can be treated like refs when they do the job of a ref!
