... the only thing anybody seems to remember from 2001 is three games to glory - while conveniently forgetting the fact the Pats were 5-5 that year.

Who was it that said, "Can you believe we won the Super Bowl with this?" :D
You don't have to be the "best team", just perform best at the right time...

""After what happened last season, Matt Cassel led the team to 11 wins with a terrible defense. That's why only 11 wins this season would be a disappointment."

What he said.

Before the season most of us figured we would be in the hunt for the SB.
Now I believe we want to win the East and maybe a playoff game. I don't feel we are as good as I thought starting this year.

You can't be in the hunt for the SB if you're not in the playoffs.

I wanna see the Pats win every game. But I'll settle for guaranteed playoffs and just a chance to fight for the getting to the Superbowl.

Anything can happen in that scenario. From thunderhorse teams making and not making it, to 8-8 Cardinals getting there... to the 01 Pats, 06 Colts and beyond.

Reaching the playoffs is priority 1. I have a lot of faith in the weirdness and wonder of the playoffs that once we're in, with BB and Brady we can go all the way.

I'm disliking the negativity. We're not the best team anymore. But we still have a chance to win it all.

BELIEVE.

Blader.

I am with you but, you need to be honest and not get your hopes up too much. I still feel that last SB we lost.

No you got it wrong, terrible perspective, which is the op's reason for this thread. What fun would it be to win a super bowl every year with a flat out dominating offense and defense.
Its the team struggling to find its way and get better every week with setbacks on the way. As a fan I enjoy the ride, always backing and rooting my team on, riding the highs and lows and hoping they can put it all together in time to win the big one.
This team has some good players and a great coach and enough players to put it all together to make a run in the playoffs. They're not a dominating team, they have flaws but thats all part of the ride.
I Guess I never got spoiled being a fan for 30+ years and Im still thrilled when the team makes the playoffs, every game is winnable in the playoffs if they play their best, we know the coaching will be there.
I guess Im a dinosaur of a fan, but I still think they can win the Super Bowl this year if they put it all together and will enjoy the games no matter how it ends.

As much as Patriot losses suck, the element of uncertainty is what makes all of this worth paying any attention to. The worst stories are the ones with predictable endings.

I'm with this guy.

And also, I say that this thread contains some of the best stuff I've read around here in a while.

Oh, and Taylor is coming back soon. Look out. Can you say "Post Season Ground Game"?

What if your chance to win it all was an illusion but in reality this team has no chance to win it all. Maybe you took the blue pill from Morpheus?

That was pretty funny....:)

Shouldn't you be estivating at the bottom of a pond now?

Hey, 11-5 isn't as great as 13-3, 14-2, etc., but remember that the first three Pats teams that reached a Super Bowl had an 11-5 record. ;)

And having the most wins doesn't stamp your ticket to the SB. Remember the '98 Vikings, who went 15-1, then lost the NFCCG... at HOME... to the FALCONS, for God's sake.

The Pats could go 9-7 and as long as they go to the playoffs, I won't care. Once your in the playoffs, a whole new season begins and all the records are thrown out.

Good one! :)

The whole world is an illusion in which all of us have role but in which most of us don't know that we are playing a role.

And no, that isn't from the Oracle but can be linked to the Sanskrit sloka that plays in the background when the titles come up after the last one ends.
