SMY: Kevin Faulk cited for marijuana possession

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

True, he should have hid that s**t better. WTF?
I bet it was good stuff too.

I don't think Brady hides anything like that. He's not stupid. He makes the right decisions, as far as we know, and doesn't even present the opportunity to commit a crime.

Or take Bruschi. As Zip noted in his HBO video, Tedy stopped drinking in 1999. Good for him. That's what I like to hear. Not dumbass players putting their careers in jeopardy, nevermind their bodies, by smoking or drinking any of that crap. Now I wish more non-players would take up the cause too. And again, it's painfully obvious some non-players on this board haven't.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

Makes them rich?
I changed that before you quoted me, I don't mean to imply it makes most rich, but it makes for a living.

Re: SMY: Kevin Faulk arrested for marijuana possession

The immediate question here is whether Faulk will be cut. This is obviously highly unlikely, but I would definitely support the Pats' cause if they ever decided to do that.

Did you decide to pay homage to Kevin by enjoying some hippie lettuce yourself? Of all the things that aren't going to get a player cut-- this is at the top of the list. And I don't support it. Unless he Ricky Williams his way to a long suspension it's no big deal. Ricky made it an artform and that's something else entirely. Kevin isn't going to do that.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

No wonder why police narcotics units are fighting such an uphill battle against this stupid ****.

Yes, because:

1) Marijuana use is nearly ubiquitous in the United States

2) Marijuana causes no long-term health effects

You can huff and puff and be as indignant as you want. If you want law enforcement to fight on an even playing field, perhaps they should focus on the drugs that, you know, actually harm people (like meth).

I've never advocated drugs for anyone, but you might be the first.

With apologies to the late HST.

Re: SMY: Kevin Faulk arrested for marijuana possession

We're on the same page here as to if Kevin should have been doing this or not, but I don't understand what you have against marijuana, besides the fact it's illegal in our country.

Here's the question. Regardless of the legal issue, would you say you had made the right decision if you had chosen not to smoke something like that (or smoke anything, for that matter. There's just no reason to do so, if you ask me).

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

I don't think anyone cares that the Patriot's third-down RB got busted with a couple joints at a concert.

Thing is our third-down RB is more important than most team's first-down RB.

A fan of the Cartoon Network saying this? ;)

Why not? Wasn't everyone touting him as the most underrated Patriots player a few short weeks ago? It isn't like he is exactly under the radar anymore. It doesn't reflect well.

Probably because most people don't have the irrational fear of a harmless drug than you do. And they'd prefer to focus their advocacy on drugs that, you know, ruin people's lives, like alcohol, nicotine, meth, crack, coke, etc.

I don't smoke anything outside of cigars. I drink occasionally, and never to excess, and I still don't think pot use is in any way different than alcohol use, other than the government says it is.

Then again, just because I choose to not engage in a certain behavior doesn't mean I'll necessarily condemn others for doing it. I'm weird like that.

Because it demonstrates stupidity on Faulk's part, the kind of stupidity that we wouldn't expect from a veteran captain of the Patriots.

If he's not in the substance abuse program, he's about to find out what a pain it is to pee into the cup at random for the rest of career.

If he is already in the substance abuse program, he could be looking at a supension.

Either way, his NFL career with the Patriots is in jeopardy.

I used to always think our guys were 'better people' than the other teams'. I know it is idealistic for me to think that...but they are just football players, nothing more, nothing less.

What does this have to do with him being underrated as a football player?

so many smokers on this team..wtf. Moss/Stallworth/Faulk/Andrews..wouldnt doubt more

my love for Faulk went down some now..i really look @ smokers differently(not a good way)

i was hoping for a better example by 1 of our captains and most underrated players in the league

If the Buffalo Bills move to Canada, maybe then all the players will sign cheap contracts there. You can smoke to your hearts content up there.

Why would you look down on someone for this reason? It's as though you need to worship these guys. How do you know they don't beat their wives or kick their dogs? Faulk has been on this team since Bobby Grier.

I should point out, for the record, that not everyone who thinks that the drug laws are insane is necessarily a user. I have never consumed an alcoholic beverage, smoked a cigarette or a joint, or used any illegal drugs, but I still think that there are major problems with the way this society, and its laws, deal with marijuana, cocaine, nicotine, alcohol, etc.

Not for nothing, but Tedy quit drinking because his wife was going to take the kids and go if he didn't. Not because of football.

Re: SMY: Kevin Faulk arrested for marijuana possession

Sure thing, it is against the law - so, he will pay his fine.

It is against NFL policy - so, he'll do what he has to do under the rules of the program.

That's it.

I want Kevin Faulk back scoring TD's, running back punts, saving Brady from sure death for us next year without question.

Come on folks, it is 2008 and the guy got busted, misdemeanor, for pot.

Really no big deal to me.

Fair enough. I know many cops and there are none I would consider rich. I do understand the point about the self-perpetuating machine however.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

Give me a break with all the moralizing crap. Smoking weed is harmless and the fact that it's illegal shows how pointless Puritanical and bureaucratic our government really is.

Re: Ugh Faulk Arrested (Yes Kevin)

A) That's not the point. One is illegal, one isn't.

B) I find it sad how many people on this board believe marijuana is absolutely fine. Then again, this is Massachusetts. Not exactly Conservative America. Unfortunately.

Well, our Pres. used to do a lot more drugs than just pot. And last I checked he was a conservative.
