Re: BB summoned to NFL office in new york . . . [Team denies rumor]

At this point I believe there is NOTHING you are right about on this board, ever. This is absolutely ASININE. How many chances does Pac Man get in your book? How much trouble does he have to get in before you say, NO MORE.

Feel free to put me on ignore. Believe me, you not reading my posts won't keep me up crying at night.

Exactly!! It's a punishment, it's supposed to be punitive!

He hadn't been convicted of anything. In fact, the case involved here is still ongoing.

Yeah because Pac Man's history outside the league is such a huge blemish on the integrity of the NFL. The NFL has always had thugs. And if he is trying to suspend a bunch of trouble makers outside the NFL then good luck....he might have to suspend half the Bengals to clean it of "thugs".

He wasn't suspended for being convicted, he was suspended for giving the league a bad image. He could have no criminal culpability at all and still warrant a suspension.

Hell, Rodney wasn't convicted of anything either, they just both broke rules.

I'm tired of all this new information AKA- here say he said she said crap when one of us finds out the Patriots are innocent or guilty post it and if there is a punishment that as well until then I'm not gonna even look at anything weei or pfw or espn has to say BB is innocent in my book till proven guilty go PATS!

Great. With all the time off Pacman has due to his suspension, he can go get some rehabilitation.

Yeah because all that behavior really messed up the league's ascension to the premier sport over the last 20 years since the cocaine 80s heydays.

Please do not kid yourself that anything but a few big factors entered into football's ascendency over the last couple of decades. One factor was the advent of the salary cap and free agency. As we all know, the parity those moves created allowed the sport to flourish. As it got bigger and more popular, obviously the lucrative business opportunities followed. Part of the goal now has to be not only to continue to prosper, but also not to allow the behavior (criminal or otherwise) of players, coaches, or anyone else in the league to jeopardize that success. With the rash of incidents that occured in the recent past, it is obvious that strict measures had to be taken in order to show that the league would not tolerate that behavior and to protect buisness opportunities. Nike and other sponsors dropped Vick pretty quickly. If more incidents like Vick, Jones, Johnson, etc. continued to occur, you don't think that the league itself would start to suffer? That's shortsighted.

Belichick still here
Posted by John Tomase at 4:03 pm

Patriots spokesman Stacey James just denied reports that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick has been summoned to New York to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell.

“It’s not true,” James said. “He’s here.”

Asked if that meant Belichick wouldn’t be summoned at all, James said he didn’t think so.

“You’ll have to talk to the league on that,” James said. “He hasn’t been called in and I don’t anticipate that he will be.”

League spokesman Greg Aiello did not immediately return a message seeking comment.

this crap is really flying now-BB summoned, denials blah blah. i hope this ends soon and we can move forward to the next game

Hell, Rodney wasn't convicted of anything either, they just both broke rules.

Under that concept, a full year's suspension, which includes a huge amount of money, is ridiculously punitive. As I said, I hope the Players' Union grows a sack and tells Goodell to take a hike.

Re: BB summoned to NFL office in new york . . . [Team denies rumor]

OK...maybe someone already mentioned this. But, anyone wonder if the Colts (as Peter King suggested) were stealing signals in the AFCCG? Just asking...

Look, I know they turned up the heat in the stadium, a ton of our guys had the flu, we had a bunch of injuries and Manning, Harrison, Wayne and Clarke are great players. But, think about it...maybe BB has the goods on the Colts (Polian) and is baiting the league?

Alright...I am full of crap, but it is killing me to not have a resolution to this fiasco.

Re: BB summoned to NFL office in new york . . .

The irony is that the pats aren't complainers or whiners like the Colts or now the Jets and change rules or points of emphasis.

The Pats could legitimately complain about the past two years getting knocked out of the playoffs in part by pass interference calls in Denver and two in Indy(against and not called).

It seems the whiners or squeaky wheel get what they want and the Pats get shafted.

I hate to see BB when he gets mad. You saw how he put half his team on the injury list to prove a point. I can see him bringing to light others team transgressions.

Last year Miami cheated and they weren't disciplined. This is just a case of jealousy and Mangini trying to needle BB.

Great points.....Lets hope BB brings any info he has on the Deon Branch tempering the Jets pulled last year.

Ring Ring

BB: Hello?

Roger Goodell: Bill, this is Roger Goodell...

BB: Who?

RG: Roger Goodell, d%#*!@t the head of the NFL!

BB: Oh, hi.

RG: Listen, Bill, you're causing me a lot of headaches with this signal stealing crap. I know everyone does it, but not so blatantly, and now I have to make a show of doing something about it. I want you down here on the next plane...

BB: Ah, Mr. Goodell, look I'm preparing for a game on Sunday...

RG: I don't care. Bill Polian is having a coronary...

BB: It is what it is.

RG: Get down here now!

BB: How about the second week in February when I have some free time?

RG: Bill, I'm warning you...

BB: How about if I send the guy you took the camera from? I have no idea what he was doing anyway.

RG: Bill!!

lol

I'm reserving judgment on this whole thing until all the facts are on the table, but it is fascinating stuff.

Goodell doesn't work for the Players' Union, he works for the owners.

They knew what kind of commissioner he'd be, apparantly that's what they want. Even players are behind him. It's very simple for them, don't break the rules and you won't get in trouble, do and you will.

Given the reaction of his teammates, the head of the NFLPA and the vast majority of players interviewed on that very point, I'd say there's NO CHANCE of that. YOU and Pac Man's immediate family seem to be the only ones who think his punishment isn't deserved.

Of course the players would go along with it; you think they want to be suspended too?

Pac Man Jones may have been the next Deion Sanders but now we'll never know.

Do you honestly expect most players to say "No, we don't want...."? Please. Look at what's happened with the few players who've dared to even defend Vick or Jones in the slightest.

Re: BB summoned to NFL office in new york . . . [Team denies rumor]

This rumor, like so many others, has now been confirmed as a lie. Greg Aiello at the NFL league office just announced that BB has not and WILL not be summoned to NY to speak to the commish.

Re: BB summoned to NFL office in new york . . . [Team denies rumor]

Tomase again:

League spokesman Greg Aiello just said that not only is Belichick not in New York now, he won’t be at all. “There will be no face-to-face meeting,” Aiello said. Left unsaid is whether the commissioner will speak to Belichick over the phone, but at the very least Belichick’s game preparation for the Chargers won’t be disturbed this week.
