Joe Montana to Steve Young II?

This is the killer post.

So trading Brady for two first round picks would be possible because "he would turn a lot of teams into SB contenders".......?????

That's exactly why you keep him on this team. I want this team to be a SB contender.

Do you know if JG can turn a team into a SB contender? No you don't.

This team is stacked. They are a SB contender with or without Brady. We will never KNOW if JG can lead to a Super Bowl until he has the opportunity to do so. Maybe the Packers should have stayed with Favre until his 5th retirement because they didnt KNOW that Rodgers could take them to a SB.

You just directly contradicted yourself within one sentence.

Anyway, I would be interested to know how many playoff games the Browns have won since BB left.

The successor of the team that BB used to coach has like 15 playoff wins and 2 SB titles. The team by the same name that he never coached has zero.

God hates Cleveland. He only has a mild distaste for Baltimore.

Is anyone here actually freaking willing to admit that Tom is going to eventually retire?? Because he is.

No one is trying to kick him out the door but at some point you have to look at the future. ****, BB said straight up that's why we drafted JG so early in the 2nd round. I want Tom to play, I want him to shove that SB trophy so far up goodells ass he can taste it. BUT I also want our team to be good for the next 10 years after Tom. Brissett is not that guy, Cassel was not that guy, nor was Mallet or Hoyer. JG IS THAT GUY. Period. Watch the 1st half of Miami again, watch the Cardinals game again. Franchise QBs don't grow on trees and Bill knows it. I don't think Jimmy is going anywhere, and while all the picks we can get may sound promising, like I said in another thread, that does not garuntee them a franchise quarter back that can step in after Tom is done. We have one. Keep him.

I am less basing my opinion on Brady's longevity and the over reaction about Garoppolo based on six quarters (only two were outstanding). Garoppolo could be the future, but I am not judging it on a game and a half.

And I expect a bad team to overreact like the fans are and offer an RGIII type of trade for him. The Rams got three first rounders and a second rounder for the right to trade up to #2 and draft RGIII. If someone offers three firsts and a second for Garoppolo especially if the 2017 pick is a top 3 pick, you take it and don't look back.

I am pretty sure if BB thought Jimmy G could lead the Pats to the Super Bowl as easily as TB12, he would not have stated that Brady starts week 5 regardless. Brady was already out playing Bledsoe when he took his job.
That has not been the case with Jimmy thus far.
Just to play devil's advocate, we will never know if Jacoby can lead this stacked team to a Super Bowl until he has the opportunity to do so.
Listen, Jimmy G is going to be a good starting QB for somebody, perhaps even the Pats, but let us slow down on anointing him as a HoFer and the greatest ever.

Yes TB is going to retire at some point, probably in the next few years. I don't get how so many fans can de facto say Jimmy G is the next guy and just toss aside Jacoby. Based on what actual game evidence can one determine with 100% certainty that Jimmy G is a franchise QB and Jacoby is worthless?
If that is not what you meant by your post, I apologize. I just don't get why a possible outcome is Brady winning SB number 5 at the end of this year and eventually handing over the keys to the dynasty to Jacoby and not Jimmy.
Jacoby looked great for a rookie. Jimmy looked better but he has also been in the NFL in this system for 3 years.

Belichick will be 65 at the end of Jimmy G's deal. At that age, I doubt he'll want to let Jimmy go and start the process of finding a successor for Brady all over again because he may never find one before he retires.

For this reason I think it is very possible, even likely that Jimmy stays and Brady goes at the end of 2017, with one year left on his deal.

To be completely accurate, remember that Washington's own pick the year RGIII came out was top 10 I believe, while the Pats own pick would be #32, so even if the Pats included their own #1 pick the return would be less.

I am not saying the Pats would include their # pick. Garoppolo is their # pick that they would be trading. The Redskins traded three first rounders and a second for the right to draft a potential franchise QB. So in the same scenario, they would trade all that for a franchise QB in Garoppolo. The Pats would keep their first in this scenario.

Disagree completely. You dont trade franchise QB's, ever. Especially young qbs on rookie contracts.

And looking at how Arizona played Jameis Winston yesterday, elevates Jimmy performance week 1 even more.

The 2008 Patriots were "stacked" and didn't make the playoffs without Brady. Same team that went 16-0 with Brady the year before.

Favre forced the Packers into that decision with his I'm retiring .... no wait..... I'm not ... or am I .... games. If he had just shown up during TC he would have still played.

We KNOW Brady can get you to and win a SB.

We DON'T KNOW what JG can do.

You don't trade or cut a known SB winning commodity because JG has played well for two games.

Look at Jameis himself. 4TDs week 1, 4 picks week 2. This is life with a young QB. I have no idea why some of you are in such a hurry to push the best QB in the league--a guy who has shown no signs of declining--out the door to return to that.

If 2012 RG3 was Brady's backup, you would be eagerly pushing Brady out the door for the privilege of Griffin's last 3+ years.

You trade them when you already have one that has shown now signs of decline.

Then when Brady does decline, you end up like the Dolphins and Bills. 20 years and hundreds of QB's later, you're still looking for the guy....

We dont want to be that team.

Who's in a hurry to push him out?

I think the Pats are in a prime situation. You go from the GOAT to a guy that has no fear in replacing him..

So pushing the guy who has gotten you to the SB out the door early because you think you have the next HOF QB ready to go makes sense?

The Pats were that team until Brady arrived. For every Grogan or Bledsoe (decent starters that helped lead the team to the SB), there were the likes of Tony Eason, Hugh Millen, and Marc Wilson.
I really hope the future SB winning QB for the Pats (not named TB12) is already on the roster, but I don't know.
I don't like the Favre to Rodgers comparisons b/c Aaron Rodgers should have probably been the #1 pick that year and for some reason his hometown team went with Alex Smith before him.
I have yet to hear that Jimmy G should have been the number 1 pick in his draft.
Jimmy G has been great for the Pats and if BB thinks he is the future, I will happily root for him to lead the Pats to multiple SB titles. I just think that for this year and possibly next, the current plan is for TB12 to be the starter.
