Ya have a hard time seeing Bill bringing him and saying "You are a rotational player only"

If that tweet is a shot at the Pats my guess is the word rotational was mentioned and he immediately equated rotational to backup. Yet failing to realize he's been a rotational player his whole career and will continue to be a rotational player.

I don't know maybe he needs his ego stroked by a team and needs to hear the word "starter". Which in NE you could still be a starter and rotational.

Especially since BB has said in the past that players earn their playing time, nothing is given, etc. it's also been claimed by many they BB is a straight-shooter when it comes to career discussions.

I imagine the discussion would be something like this:
"We'd like to bring you aboard the team. Our intention is to use you as a rotational player, along with the other linemen we have on the team. However, your actual role is up to you - if you outperform everyone else you will get more playing time; if you don't work hard, compete and earn a spot, you might not get any playing time at all."

Well, if we're going to analyze his tweets like tea leaves, he's tweeting "let's go celtics!" now and is a born in the northeast guy. So...

We can make fun all we want. The reality is that we lost Hicks and Siliga, and replaced them with Kearse.
We have tried three times and failed to sign a rotational DT (hicks, Fairly and Knighton).

Hardly call Siliga a "lost". Pats could have retained him if they wanted to.

As for Hicks and Fairley they obviously chased the money and the playing time. Not a lot the Pats can do there.

Knighton obviously has a problem with the word rotational. Again nothing they can do there. BB isn't going to change his rotational system to placate a player.

So no, I think I'll continue to make fun.. A #3/#4 DT isn't going to make or break the Pats '16 season..

You'd think a guy that said he was a Pats fan would be ok being a rotational guy with his favorite team

“Kid grows up playing football in the Hartford area and there’s only one question to ask:Giants or Patriots?

“Patriots,” Knighton said. “My family’s Patriots fans. I’m still a Patriots fan deep-down inside. When I’m done playing, I’ll be a Patriot fan. But not today. I didn’t care who I was playing against today.”

So your saying we may not have to roast him on the pot just yet?

Yea plus I read WAS wants to me more like a SEA attacking front. More 4-3 gap shooting so Pork Chop isn't really a fit. Ive scoured the Skins blogs and overall they had good things to say with the exception that he sometimes didnt play 100% and seemed to get tired easily. Overall people seemed pretty happy with him.

Sounds like a perfect rotational guy

lol, extra funny because I had just made a post saying he was the perfect rotational player before i read this haha

Has to be your fault then!

It seems only sensible that he's a secret poster and was catching up on a thread dedicated to his honor and then that dreaded word popped up!

Must be! :D

You're not accounting for Malcom Brown. This is how this stuff works: we promote from within, and count on our young premium talent to step into a bigger role. I'm betting the Pats are confident that Malcom can be a big part of the line this year. Maybe Easley too, though I wouldn't necessarily count on that and I dunno if the Pats would either.

Yankee Pot Roast?

Of course Boston needs the 3 seed, but we also need that post roast...post roast!

Our entire OL last year was filled with rotational players - they could even be rotated easily after the snap...

By the end of the season it was the olé OL.

Brown, Branch, Easley isn't a bad place to start. The team will certainly be adding another big body or two. Sure, we'd all have liked to keep Hicks, but at about 1/2 the price.

As far as specific positions go, DT is not one that I'm terribly concerned about at the moment--even though it does need to be addressed.
