I have a theory that when his wife gave birth to their child and the child almost passed away, it changed him. It seemed after that he didn't give a crap anymore. It was like he decided that there is more important stuff in the world than the Winer Line and Fred Smerlas' smelly feet. Based on the hell he went though, it is totally understandable. He gained perspective. He didn't have the fight to go after the Sports Hub. He just wanted to goof off.So long as they let him talk about the one sport he knows sometimes, basketball.
I think the time away was good for Ordway. This time around, he needs to refrain from talking about the nuances of the sport and have fun setting people up in a fun, but controlled way. He does a good enough job of doing his homework, outlining the format and orchestrating the show. For example, tee up the football talk and let Fauria go. Tee up the baseball talk and let Lou go. He went on autopilot and got lazy at the end in EEI. Have fun but dont let it become a Delta House.
Ordway needs to leave his ego at the door and rededicate himself to his craft.
