I agree. A thought creeping into my head is Bill cutting Blount and keeping Gray as the power back and Bolden behind him... Bolden did get a lot of work last night. Bill might be thinking he wants to keep Lewis and White and needs to cut someone else somewhere. Blount hasn't really been very impressive this offseason.Perhaps, Belichick didn't need to see anymore. What I found curious is that Blount was on the field so late.

Good point, I forgot about that. It's a decision he doesn't have to make until Week 2.
I agree, but at the same time, you want to see your starting RB doing more to fight for yards instead of just dancing and hoping a hole appears. This is something I think Gray has looked a bit better at this preseason.Ross,
Doesn't seem like his fault though. Our o-line hasn't really helped him
Roy Helu was available and signed with Oakland for at least 1/3 as much as what Vereen signed with NJ.I would have preferred that we signed seasoned veteran 3rd down back. Having 3 mediocre ones isn't a better situation.
I was really hoping the team nabbed Helu, I think he would've done very well here. But I think Lewis is doing most of what I would have expected from Helu, anyway.Roy Helu was available and signed with Oakland for almost half as much as what Vereen signed with NJ.

Without Develin. I think we can keep both. It would be difficult to cut Lewis at this point. I think White has earned his spot too.

At the end of the day....when it's all said and done (creating this post just to use metaphors), our 3rd down back needs to show a threat of running that rock. He needs to be quick and elusive. If their is no threat....if everyone on the field knows he can only catch...then that severely limits our options and one of the main functions of a 3rd down back.
1st and foremost...a 3rd down back needs to prove he can run. People will argue that Vereen couldn't run. I have always disagreed with that argument. Look up the average yards per carry. The numbers don't lie. Faulk was a great one too.
I believe Lewis can run better then White (among other things). This is why I think Lewis makes the 53.
none of the 3 you have, have that. Peterson does, none of yours. None of them are that good. Just my opinion. If white, lewis, or cadet were in Id look for differnet things, but wouldnt be a game changer. Peterson in Im nervous no matter what down it is. Id forget that if talking about these 3. Come down to earth.
He's suspended for week 1, so he was getting some work, per broadcaster speculation. We might very well see him next week, for the same reason, per my speculation.
By all reports, Blount's been the team's best RB in camp, so I don't take any worrisome meaning from his getting later carries.
With him being suspended, he likely won't play for 3 weeks. Long time to sit on shelf, so hes getting more reps in preseason. It would be a major shocker if Blount is gone. Belichick really likes him.Perhaps, Belichick didn't need to see anymore. What I found curious is that Blount was on the field so late.
I don't understand the logic. Which of White and Lewis can play TE (as Develin did). Which is worth a roster spot as a lead blocker (as Develin was).
