You do not know it was unwinnable, that is an assumption that you create as the only support of your argument.Kraft decided not to pursue an unwinnable appeal. He made the very tough decision to put his own interests aside for what he considered the good of the League. Most Patriots fans can't seem to fathom this, but this is what I think was going through Kraft's mind - and quite reasonably so.
Kraft sided with the other owners over the Patriots. I have a problem with that.
Tom Brady has been judged a cheater. He appealed that and asked the owner of the team to show up an testify on his behalf. That isn't important enough to change your travel plans? Even if Kraft felt sticking to his itinerary was more important than Brady, his flight landed before the hearing was over. He also refused to testify by phone, when he was sitting on a plane. What is his excuse for that?Blaming Kraft for being on an airplane during Brady's appeal is typical of the overreaction on this board. (It's not as if Kraft hadn't already made his total confidence in Tom Brady and Bill Belichick publicly known immediately after the investigation started). I (and you) see the same type of overreaction from the Patriots haters over Spygate and Deflatehate. But people are people; only the object of their scorn differs.
Kraft is the one man with a responsibility to the organization that chose to turn his back on it.I'm OK with having a different opinion than 90% of the fans on the board. In fact I'm glad that I'm not living with the obvious frustration and even hate that so many seem to have. Kraft made a poor decision and will be vilified for it the rest of his life. There are no winners here.
Personally, I believe that Kraft is rooting hard for his team, his coach and his QB. Perhaps that's just me, my optimism and my faith in people including Kraft. It will be interesting to look back on this in 2 or 3 years with perhaps a little more understanding and wisdom of what has really been going on.
Kraft doesn't have to root against the team to be doing things detrimental to it.
I do not doubt he wants the team to win. But when given the choice between keeping the other owners happy and doing what is best for his team, the team comes in second.
