Breaking: NYJ fined $100,000 for Revis tampering

I think the fix is in.

As much as I continue to believe that the Wells report SHOULD exhonerate the Pats and punish the real perpetrators of the frame job, this ruling today on the Jets and today's relinquishing of tax-exempt status (the real goal of which is to make it harder for government oversight of the NFL) is as clear a signal as possible that Goodell is going to do it all his way.
Like Ivan, I think you have finally seen the light.

Doesn't mean I cannot say what I think SHOULD happen.

The facts are the facts and I will always advocate for what SHOULD occur.

Just because some in the NFL are trying to squelch it doesn't mean we, as fans, should give them the forfeit victory.

So why did you give my post "What a complete and overt slap in the face" a "Disagree"?

Looks like you completely agree.
Cause i F'd up is why. I am on vacation and spent all day on the beach followed by beers. Doing this on my phone besides .
To paraphrase BB..i am onto the wells report will be issued soon thread.
I aint going back either... Can you mod it to an agree which was my intent?

Can't do it.

Enjoy the beach.

I absolutely agree with you about what should happen in a fair and equitable NFL and should voice our opinions in that regard. I am stating that you finally realize this isn't a fair and equitable NFL under Goodell. My opinion has consistently been that the commissioner was biased and we now have undeniable evidence.

I never said it was fair under Goodell.

It was my hope that the third party Wells report would be external to any shananigans by Goodell, but the relinquishment of the tax-exempt status today is a very bad signal that Goody wants to be able to call his own shots without oversight.

As of now, the Wells report is the Crimea and Putin is currently en route to Chicago.

Then I stand corrected concerning your view of Goodell. I had no such belief concerning the Wells Report. I assumed that Goodell would control the release of the report and doubted that anything adverse concerning the NFL would be made public. This is the polar opposite of the white wash concerning the Rice fiasco.

I agree that this "penalty" for the jets' tampering is a complete joke, it makes no sense whatsoever, and it reeks of bias by goodell towards the team that gave him his start in the NFL.

My only hope is that the reason that rog gave such a bullplop penalty to the jets is because he knows that the Wells Report is going to completely exonerate the Patriots and maybe even punish those that led the witch hunt against them.

Maybe goodell is just trying to keep the anti-Patriot masses from dragging him out of his office before the 2016 season kicks off

I know....it's probably a pipe dream

It's sort of like having a judge come down hard on a DWI offender and making them making them do 3 days in jail, DUI classes, 3 months of Drug and Alcohol counseling and AA and then forcing them to have a sobriety interlock installed on their vehicle for a first offense, but then when it's the judges sister she only gets a $100 reckless driving fine.

This is one of the worst cases of nepotistic leniency I've ever witnessed. Goodell and his Jets office needs to be removed.

Saying "I told you so" is really bad form so I'm not going to do that in this thread. I don't want to be so gauche as to say "I told you people dreaming of draft picks that this was only going to get a slap on the wrist".

So I'm just going to refrain from posting.

Some folks might not want to see/hear it now, so it's very nice of you to not bring it up here. Damn nice.

I made a bet with Jets fans that they'd be fined more for tampering than the Pats would for football air pressure. I think I'm in good shape on that one.

So just what is the worst discipline handed down to the Rats during the Goodell Reign of Omissioner?

This $100,000 may be the biggest he has handed out. After the Rats finished investigating themselves for Tripgate they fired Alosi, and I believe for this and Westhoff accusing the Pats of "doing the same thing" the combined penalty was $1000,000.

On the benefits side the Rats under Badell have:

Gotten their biggest rival harshly punished for minor camera placement offense,

Had their own incident of taping from an unauthorized location in Foxboro ignored by the league,

Been allowed to tamper with and be rewarded with a future HOF player from their chief rival,

Had a bogus, retaliatory tampering charge against the Pats unpunished,

Been given salary cap relief after the uncapped season,

Had offenses ignored; tampering with Michael Crabtree, holding illegal off-season practices...

Anything I missed?

BS, he did it before with DeShawn Jackson last year and was warned by the league not to do it again. At the press conference in December, the PR person started out by saying that he couldn't discuss players under contract w other clubs and then Woody did just that. He knew exactly what he was doing. He can't claim ignorance.....

I do agree with you that the Pats will likely get screwed. And IF they do, it is time for Kraft to call in those chits with the other owners and get rid of Goodell. How many times do you have to get screwed and have the brand damaged before you respond????

I'm not sure that Kraft can respond. The NFL owners are a pretty tight group and might not allow dissent.

I know that many of my fellow Pats fans might have had high expectations for Tampergate, but I really don't know why anyone would be surprised by Goody's ruling. He probably went to Mike Kensil for advice before he made his "decision."

Why didn't Goodell let the Pats investigate themselves regarding the balls? Remember that oldie but goodie? The best part about trip gate was that it still came back at the Patriots when they claimed they learned it from the Pats. I even think old Roger repeated that line of BS.

What part of firing "gofer" Alosi and skating away scot free did the Rats learn from the Pats? Little hazy on these details, sorta like that ****in' drunk Westhof was every day of his career.

You missed quite a few, actually,
Branch tampering,
Desean Jackson tampering,
the threatening of career ending injury to Wes Welker,
Farvre sending d!ck pics,
Jets sexually harassing a spanish reporter

The most baffling part of that was, after Westhoff's BS claim, Jay Glazer dug up some tape of a Patriots player (Hochstein?) not tripping anyone. And the reaction was "Ah-ha! See? Same thing!"
